Greetings, all! I hope everyone is having a very nice day so far. At this point (as mentioned in the title) I am now 2 months into owning my 2017 S90 T6 Inscription, and I am in love. I use this vehicle as my daily driver to and from work, and have racked up 8k miles already!!
So far, I am absolutely loving my ownership experience with Volvo, and with the S90. That being said, there are a few things I have noticed that I would like to inquire about:
- Once in a blue moon, when taking off from a red light (with the Start-Stop function enabled) the car will periodically inform me “power steering temporarily reduced” and I do notice a lack of power assistance, if only for a few seconds. Then, the light disappears and the car drives as it should. Normal??
- The Volvo store I purchased this car from replaced both the brake pads and rotors, F/R. Yet, already, I notice a rather significant wobble in the steering during medium-strong braking. I will admit that I tend to drive this vehicle a little harder than the next guy, but burning through a full set of pads AND rotors in 2 months seems a little extreme. I recognize that this is an entirely different breed of car, but I can beat the crap out of my Porsche or my Grand Wagoneer, and I have NEVER experienced any kind of brake fade like I have in this car. Am I just driving the car like an idiot?
- Phantom vibrations. I know this subject has been discussed in great detail, but I wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts relating specifically to the S90. Going above 45 mph, and again beyond 70, the steering wheel and what feels like something in the rear of the car vibrate rather intensly, even on brand-new roads. Tires have been Road-Force balanced twice now, so I suspect that isn’t the problem. Are there any IPD/aftermarket parts that would help to alleviate some of the problem?
- Power-Assist Steering. I know I had a separate question regarding this above, but this is a separate inquiry. It seems like the weight of the steering likes to change on a whim, without any change to drive mode? It will feel on the heavier side as if the car is in Dynamic mode, but then sometimes will switch to being so light that I have no idea what’s going on with the front wheels (sometimes this change occurs during a single curve!!)
Guys, I want to reiterate that I absolutely love this car. No vehicle is perfect, and I did a lot of research into Volvo, and the S90, before I ultimately pulled the trigger. Having said this, I am just hoping I could find a way to alleviate just some of the quibbles that I’ve noticed on this fine piece of machinery.
Thanks in advance for any helpful info!
