A brand-new Porsche Taycan Turbo S has been spotted at Hyundai’s new Nürburgring testing facility parking, raising eyebrows across the performance EV industry. Even more intriguing, the Taycan was seen running on Hyundai testing plates by our colleague @stephanbarral , signaling it is officially part of the Korean automaker’s benchmarking program.

The discovery begs the question: with the Hyundai IONIQ 6 N already launched and the Genesis GV60 Magma nearing its official debut, what future model could Hyundai and Genesis be benchmarking against Porsche’s most powerful EV?

Hyundai & Genesis Expanding Their High-Performance EV Lineup

Hyundai and Genesis have made it clear that they’re not just dipping into performance EVs—they’re building a new standard.

Hyundai IONIQ 6 N – Launched earlier this year, the sleek N sedan delivers sharper dynamics, upgraded motors, and track-ready performance inspired by the IONIQ 5 N.

Genesis GV60 Magma – Expected to debut soon, this SUV will be the first of Genesis’ Magma performance sub-brand, with aggressive styling, enhanced power output, and a stronger focus on driving dynamics.

Both models were previously caught undergoing extreme winter testing, benchmarked against the IONIQ 5 N and a standard Porsche Taycan. Now, the presence of a freshly registered Taycan Turbo S suggests Hyundai and Genesis are taking testing a step further.

Why a New Porsche Taycan Turbo S?

The Porsche Taycan Turbo S represents the pinnacle of EV performance today, delivering staggering horsepower, cutting-edge chassis tuning, and Nürburgring-honed handling. But what makes this sighting unusual is that it’s not an older development mule—it’s a brand-new 2025 model year Taycan Turbo S.

This strongly suggests Hyundai isn’t just catching up—they’re testing against Porsche’s very latest updates, ensuring their performance EVs are benchmarked against the best and newest in the industry.

What Could Hyundai & Genesis Be Benchmarking Next?

With the IONIQ 6 N already unveiled and the GV60 Magma almost here, the timing of this benchmarking exercise points toward future N and Magma models currently in development. Possibilities include:

  • Genesis G80 Magma EV (Upcoming?) – Genesis could expand the Magma brand beyond SUVs. A high-performance electric sedan would go head-to-head with luxury EVs like the Taycan.
  • Hyundai IONIQ 8 and 8 N – After the launch of the IONIQ 9, there’s some space below for an IONIQ range sedan that could also receive the high performance treatment. This model is not yet confirmed.
  • Next-Gen KIA high performance GT1 model? – While the Stinger is gone, Kia could already be preparing a new generation or a replacement model that needs benchmarking against the latest Taycan. This model recently returned to the spotlight.

Nürburgring: The Battleground for EV Supremacy

Hyundai’s dedicated Nürburgring testing center has become the focal point of its performance development strategy. By running Porsche’s latest and greatest on the same track where Hyundai’s N and Genesis Magma prototypes are honed, the automaker is clearly determined to push its upcoming EVs to match—or even surpass—Porsche standards in terms of speed, handling, and driver engagement.

Conclusion: Hyundai & Genesis Are Aiming Higher

The sighting of a brand-new Porsche Taycan Turbo S with Hyundai testing plates confirms that Hyundai and Genesis are benchmarking their future EVs against the most elite competition available. With the IONIQ 6 N already on sale and the GV60 Magma’s launch around the corner, the Taycan Turbo S could be shaping the DNA of a new wave of Korean performance EVs set to challenge Porsche head-on.
