Early C3s still had the “oomph” behind them before government regulations began to strangle Chevy’s sports car.

And they don’t get much better than a 427/390 horsepower, four-speed manual Stingray, just like this 1968 example that’s being offered on Craigslist by a Laguna Beach, California classic car dealership for the asking price of $57,500.

Coincidentally, one of my favorite personal Corvettes ever was a beautiful Laguna Blue 2015 convertible that reminds me a lot of this Lemans Blue Stingray, which is simply stunning with its nearly new white soft top and an immaculate blue vinyl interior. Both the blues inside and out are authenticated by the trim tag.

The seller describes the car as “restored and … in excellent unmodified condition!” We would be hard-pressed to argue with that assessment after checking out more than 20 photos with the listing and watching a video test drive that you can watch here:

Features include power steering, power disc brakes, power windows, chrome luggage rack, and updated sound system with multiple speakers and amplifier. The pop-up headlights function properly, and the L36 engine is one of four 427 options available in the first year of the C3. The L36 was chosen by 7,717 customers at an additional cost of $200.15 – not bad for 190 more horses than the base 327/300.

The consignor says the suspension, brakes, shocks, bushings and rear end were all redone by Coast Corvette in Anaheim. The steering box is new, explaining why there is no play in the wheel. The tires, which cost $1,350, are original looking bias ply, but they are actually radials from vintage tire maker Coker Tires. Other new parts include the distributor, battery, and over-sized aluminum DeWitt Radiator made especially for Corvettes.

According to the seller, the car is exempt from California smog certification requirements and comes with a clean California title. Residents of that state even have the option of transferring the current vanity license plate “C3 427” to their name.

You’ll definitely be singing the “blues” if you buy this Corvette, but we doubt you’ll be all that sad.
