I’ve used Meziere water pumps and other products for years, and there is no doubt that they build top notch parts for extreme applications. When Larry Larson and I built the S10 for Drag Week, we knew that if we were going to build the first 5 second street car we were going to have to have the very best which is why I contacted the team at Meziere to help spec our radiator mounted water pump, the billet flexplate we needed, and more. In fact, they were instrumental in our cooling system design and we subsequently never had a single cooling system issue in the S10 in all these years. But why did we use a radiator mounted water pump in the first place?
When designing all the elements for the S10, one of the things I was concerned with were ways to shave weight for the race track vs the street. Because we were going to race the truck on methanol it didn’t need to have water circulating through the engine during a run, which meant we could remove the cooling system for “race mode”. Doing this involved some simple mounts, Jiffy-Tite connectors, and the Meziere radiator mounted water pump.

Escondido, California, August 21, 2025 – Driven by the desire to solve problems with fitment, Meziere has developed two more coolant pump designs, aimed at making easier plumbing connection possible. We are proud to introduce WP397 – Remote mounted pump, and WP392 – Radiator mounted pump. Both are dual-out designs where -16ORB exits are up and to the side. In cases where the engine is too close to the pump exits and the connection hoses are too short to flex and connect, this design allows for a 90* hose end to easily be attached.
