MG’s first ute has opened for pre-orders, but it is yet to be given a price – though unique features are likely to make it dearer than its LDV sibling.
Prospective Australian buyers can now pre-order the 2026 MG U9 dual-cab ute ahead of its arrival in showrooms by the end of this year, but prices are still to be announced.
The U9 is expected to cost more than its LDV Terron 9 twin on the basis of its more complex coil-sprung, independent rear suspension design, as well as extra features including a fold-down step in the tailgate.
It could see a starting price in excess of $55,000 drive-away, based on the Terron 9 Origin base model’s entry sticker of $53,674 drive-away for private buyers, or as low as $49,990 via an ABN special offer.

Customers who pre-order early – before an unspecified cut-off date – will receive a $1000 “accessory introductory offer”, believed to be a credit towards genuine accessories on the final vehicle.
MG has not published a list of accessories, but it has advised it is working with brands such as HSP, ARB, and AutoPacific to develop bull bars, tonneau covers, and load racks for the vehicle.
The U9 is MG’s first dual-cab ute in Australia, and will launch with a 160kW/520Nm 2.5-litre turbo four-cylinder diesel engine matched with an eight-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive.

It quotes a 3.5-tonne braked towing capacity, as well as a payload exceeding 1000kg on select variants, government homologation documents indicate.
Differences from the Terron 9 include the U9’s multi-link rear suspension – rather than a solid axle with leaf springs – plus a unique centre console, and minor exterior styling differences.
