This marvelous trio fills many of my automotive wish lists in one simple shot; clean, stock C3 Corvette, a yellow Pantera not so different from the one I used to own, and my favorite of all time cars, a devil-red Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona coupe. Triple Yum
It goes without saying that you’ll see fabulous, and in many cases, otherworldly cars, trucks, and bikes at Monterey Car Week’s major events, like the Pebble Beach Concours D’Elegance, the vintage racing motorsport reunion at Laguna-Seca, Concorso Italiano, and the big German car meets, plus the dozen or so other meets and shows going on during The Week. This is why they’re great, and this is certainly why I attend and participate.
One of the tastiest elements of the whole shebang for me is that the streets of Monterey, Pebble Beach, Carmel By The Sea, Pacific Grove, and Salinas are otherwise just crawling with great hardware all the time, day and or night during this magical week. Any parking lot can become a pop-up car show; so even if you don’t care for the “big events” or their husky ticket prices, you can still enjoy the magical Monterey Peninsula, albeit with heavier traffic than usual, and a constantly cruising cornucopia of cool cars. Here’s just a few. I could bore you with more, but hopefully you get the hint by now.

My friend Bill just loves Mogies, and dreams about one of his own — he wouldn’t find a nicer on than this two-tone gray and blue roadster, shining resplendently at a free car show in downtown Pacific Grove

Paging Chevy Chase and Christy Brinkley — how can you not smile at this authentically recreated Wagon Queen Family Truckster from National Lampoon’s Vacation film series. Tackier than words can describe, but a crowd-pleaser to be sure

OK, OK, Okay — this one was at Pebble Beach, one of Mario’s 1978 F1 championship winning season team Lotus 79 Cosworths – this one driven to victory at the Dutch Grand Prix, and yes that’s me in my proverbial consourse judge’s uniform – this class celebrated the 75th anniversary of modern F1 racing
