After market gauge readings? (oil temp/pressure, coolant temp/pressure, boost/AFR) | SwedeSpeed

I recently installed gauges and I’m trying to get a better idea what I see and what I should be seeing. I installed three gauges, each dual sensors: Oil pressure and temp, Coolant pressure and temp, boost and AFR.

I installed the oil sensor by drilling a hole in oil pan where the conduit/channel (riser?) returns from oil cooler to PCV at the point where it rises to the PCV (with timesert reinforcement). The oil cooler is the Focus upgrade. The sensor is an IMS MTX-D. Pressure typically reads at engine start ~70-75psi, then drops to ~13-18psi at idle when the engine fully warms. During acceleration, it’s increase to 50-60psi, at steady cruise ~2.5Krpm it’s around low 40s psi. Temp readings are hard to determine because reading are shown dial edge, without markings, but usually 1-3 light bars. Installing on the oil cooler return is likely a relative cool point. I don’t think (yet) the gauge is defective. Although the adapter I used was the best I could manage to get the sensor as close to flow as I could, the temp sensor doesn’t extend into flow. I probably need to go into gauge settings and change units of measure or customize min/max sweep range.

I located coolant sensor just left of thermostat housing on lower coolant hose. The sensor is the GlowShift dual water sensor and I installed a do88 FMIC previously. I originally installed right of thermostat housing upper hose but I wasn’t happy with fit and coupling and moved it to lower coolant hose. I think upper coolant hose is better placement for readings, but I’m not 100% sure and, besides, I’m not moving it again. At least for a while. Coolant temps range from ~170dF to ~210dF. What’s interesting is the higher temps are at lower gears, city driving, while lower temps are at higher speeds, steady cruise. I would expect temp readings to coorelate with higher rpms, but that doesn’t seem to hold true, because I’ve played around lower gears, low rpms. Pressure at engine start has always been 0psi, then builds as temp increases. But range can vary from 6psi to as high as 16psi. Pressure generally moves with temp.

Boost/AFR is a Prosport digital guage, tee’d off the vacuum boost pressure line and AFR sensor installed on downpipe. AFR seems okay, but slightly rich at cruise (~14.5-6). Boost is harder for me to understand since it typically show -10 to -15 and at times can drop to -20. Acceleration can jump positive, but usually not higher than 8-10psi, but if I punch it, almost 15psi. AFR is center digital reading, boost is shown around the dial with inHg left and psi right, which I think means vacuum in inHg and boost as psi. I think that’s right, but again I’m not 100% sure. I have Vida but haven’t taken a ride to compare Vida with gauge readings. I’d expect vacuum at idle or cruise but -15 to -20 inHg is more than I expected.

I’ve been checking for codes after installation and no codes.

So I’m still trying to figure it all out and hoped to hear from others who’ve installed gauges to learn what they typically see or anything else they’ve picked up over time from their guages.
