Meet all of the 2025 Top 40 Under 40 HVACR Professionals
Tate Byers didn’t grow up in HVAC. Instead, he was brought in through a college friend who recommended Lennox as a great place to work. Byers joined the company in 2015 and never looked back. In just a decade, he’s helped shape some of the most important product innovations and regulatory transitions in the commercial HVAC space.
“My primary career goal is to build products that technicians enjoy working on, contractors confidently install, and building owners trust to reliably support their businesses,” Byers said. “I’m passionate about improving the ease and efficiency of service — whether through streamlined diagnostics, the integration of emerging technologies, or product enhancements that elevate the standard of work for both manufacturing teams and field technicians.”
One of his most significant accomplishments has been leading the development and launch of the Model L rooftop series — the most energy-efficient RTU on the market for two years, and the first in its class to include a unit controller with a dedicated service app interface.
Byers also successfully managed Lennox Commercial’s transitions through the DOE 2023 regulatory changes, relaunching over 75% of the product line and rebranding two major products, Enlight and Xion.
“During this transition, we rationalized our product line to reduce complexity in our factory, resulting in increased throughput and productivity while growing YoY sales,” Byers said.
Most recently, Byers led Lennox Commercial through the A2L refrigerant transition, overseeing product specifications, development, and commercialization. Earlier in his career, Byers contributed to microchannel coil technology as a design engineer, even earning a patent for a reliability-enhancing improvement.
Whether he’s managing product lines or pitching in on the factory floor during COVID-related disruptions, Byers is a steady, solutions-driven leader.
His long-term goal? “To build a brand that people trust — one that stands for quality, performance, and long-term reliability.”
