After 40 years, duPont REGISTRY’s cover cars capture moments in automotive history.
This year, duPont REGISTRY, the source for supercars since 1985, is celebrating its 40th anniversary. In that time, some of the world’s most desirable, iconic, and influential luxury and exotic cars have graced the cover of our magazine over the past 40 years, and together, the cover cars of duPont REGISTRY’s hundreds of monthly issues tell a story of automotive history and its evolution since the ‘80s.
Looking back at duPont REGISTRY’s cover cars from the year 2006, some serious nostalgia is stirred up for any automotive enthusiast, and each year, a cover car shows an iconic moment of the past, when a car we see as a classic today was the hottest new creation on the market. Take a trip down memory lane and look at our 2006 magazine covers below, and continue to celebrate our milestone anniversary by buying a copy of our special 40th anniversary edition magazine.

January – Spyker C12 LaTurbie
The more well-known and common model from the zany, historically-inspired Spyker was the C8, but the C12 LaTurbie was rarer. Using what might have been the only production application of midship-mounting the Volkswagen Group’s W12 engine, only 25 C12 LaTurbie examples were slated to be made, in addition to the C12 Zagato, a coupe with a Zagato-designed body. The eye-catching open-top supercar made it on the January 2006 cover of duPont REGISTRY.

February – Ford GT GTX1 Roadster
Today, the Ford GT is one of the most well-loved American supercars, and this rare GTX1 Roadster conversion of it is rare and highly sought after. In February 2006, it was new and the cover star of duPont REGISTRY.

March – Lamborghini Gallardo
A Lamborghini Gallardo with plenty of custom touches was the star of our March 2007 cover, which also happened to be our 250th collector’s edition issue.

April – Porsche Cayenne, Porsche 356, Porsche 911, Porsche Carrera GT
A collection of Porsches adorned the April 2006 cover of duPont REGISTRY, like the customized interior of a Porsche Cayenne, the front of a Porsche 356, the front of a customized 996 911, and the back of the legendary Carrera GT.

May – Pagani Zonda F Roadster
The carbon fiber-bodied Pagani Zonda F Roadster was the cover star of duPont REGISTRY’s May 2006 issue, showing off its incredible V12 powertrain and beautiful design.

June – Koenigsegg CCX
The Koenigsegg CCX was the successor to Koenigsegg’s CC8S model, a revolutionary hypercar in its time which used groundbreaking fuel technology, powertrain engineering, and lightweight construction to reach unprecedented heights of performance. Exclusive, as well, it was the star of duPont REGISTRY’s June 2006 cover.

July – Chevrolet Corvette, Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, Chevrolet Camaro
Alongside the classic placement of a Corvette, our all-American July 2006 cover featured a Shelby GT500 Mustang in the iconic “Eleanor” colors cheme, along with a custom classic Camaro.

August – Lamborghini Murciélago LP640
Successor to the inaugural Lamborghini Murciélago model, the Lamborghini Murciélago LP640 was the cover star of our August 2006 cover.

September – Ferrari FXX
Based on the Enzo, the Ferrari FXX was a brash and unabashed track-only variant of the stunning Ferrari halo car, and one of the rarest 21st century Ferrari masterpieces to this day. It was the star of the September 2006 cover of duPont REGISTRY.

October – SSC Ultimate Aero TT
The 2000s were a virtual arms race when it came to top speed, and while we look back today on the Bugatti Veyron as the triumphant party and the most memorable groundbreaker of velocity, the SSC Ultimate Aero TT set ambitious sights on being the top speed king, as the October 2006 cover of duPont REGISTRY shows.

November – Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder, Aston Martin DB9 Volante, BMW 6 Series
The Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder, the Aston Martin DB9 Volante, and the BMW 6 Series all came together with various customizations from Hamann, Mansory, and AC Schnitzer, respectively, on our November 2006 cover.

December – Porsche 911 TechArt 997 Twin Turbo
The TechArt 997 Twin Turbo Porsche 911 was shown off as the star of our December 2006 cover.
