When it comes to Corvette values, we tend to focus on the top echelon of the resale market. Our Top 11 sales lists generally take $100k or more just to qualify and often top out in the 7-figure range.
But what about the rest of us that don’t reside in the 1% club? Everyone’s got a different toy budget so let’s look at a range where many more of us can afford to shop. What’s out there for say, $20,000 or less?
In today’s market that’ll most likely land you in the C3, C4, C5, and even C6 generations. Any C1 or C2 in the $20k range is likely a basket case or project car. C7’s and C8’s haven’t hit the bottom of their respective depreciation curves yet so they’re out too. One of those in the $20k range is likely in pieces.

Looking over Mecum Auctions’ 2025 results, they’ve sold nearly 200 Corvettes for $20,000 or less so far this year. Keep in mind that Mecum shows prices with the 10% buyer’s fee added in so a $22k sale really hammered sold at just $20k. Sign up for a free My Mecum account to see final bids.
For just $20,000, there’s a ton of opportunity for someone looking to get into the hobby on budget. Just check out the pedigree of the cars below. We’ve got restored, unrestored, low miles, special editions, and more. Any of these would certainly appease the discriminating Corvette buyer:
• 1970 Red Coupe: 350/300, auto, matching no’s, PS, PB, A/C
• 1978 Pace Car: L82, auto, 13,313 miles
• 1984 Coupe: 1-of-2 in Tre-Celeste Pearl, 12,531 miles, documented
• 1994 Brickyard 400 Pace Car: 1-of-13 in red, 12,508 miles, Bloomington Gold Certified
• 1998 Pace Car Convertible: 6-speed, parade car, NCRS Hill Mark of Excellence award
• 2003 50th Anniversary Coupe: 32,383 miles, auto, 1 of 4,085 40th anniversary coupes
• 2005 Yellow Custom Convertible: 1 owner, power top, 71,514 miles
• 2006 White Coupe: 6-speed, 3LT, Z51 performance package
So, if you had an extra $20,000 in your pocket which of these Corvettes would park in your garage? I have to admit that that 1-of-2 1984 in Tre-Celeste Pearl is the one I’d want.
