While many automakers are scaling back their electric vehicle (EV) plans, Volvo remains steady as it goes, including its new flagship EV, the EX90.

Like its siblings, the luxury, all-electric SUV focuses on incorporating recycled and sustainable materials into the design while ensuring the EX90 remains a comfortable, indulgent vehicle. This is important as it competes with BMW iX, Mercedes-EQ EQE SUV, and Tesla Model X.

Let’s take a look at what the Volvo EX90 offers inside.

Passenger Room and Comfort

A Look Inside the 2025 Volvo EX90

The EX90 is supposed to be a showcase, blending sustainability and comfort, and that begins up front. Ergonomically designed seats heat and adjust in eight ways with lumbar support and cushion extensions for extra thigh support. Move up a few trims, and those seats will ventilate and massage the occupants.

In the second row, there is ample leg room at 36.5 inches. They also get an option for heated seats in the bench. As for the third row, it gets a better-than-average 31.9 inches of space. Volvo claims someone as tall as 5-feet-7-inches can sit back there comfortably.

Features and Tech

The EX90 provides plenty of customizable tech. The dashboard focuses on a 14.5-inch center-mounted vertical tablet-style touchscreen. However, you can also control many of the functions with verbal commands.

Google is the system of choice here, complete with Google built-in, Google Maps, Google Play, etc., so Android users need not worry. Wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless charging are available. Additionally, a 14-speaker Bose Premium Sound system with 17 channels allows everyone the same aural experience. That can be amped up to a 25-speaker, 1,610-watt Bowers & Wilkins audio system.

Although minimalist inside, it offers plenty of tech, including Volvo’s Pilot Assist semi-autonomous driving system. Like many EVs, it also gets over-the-air updates to ensure it continues to get better.

Materials and Design

The EX90 is available in four interior colors: Zinc, Charcoal, Dawn, and Cardamom. They offer different colors and unique seating materials, although none are leather. The themes also ensure some continuity within the cabin. The front seats are upholstered using the same fabric all the way around.

The different themes use a variety of recycled and sustainable materials, such as Nordico, another recycled material, plus “bio-attributed” pine resin from sustainable forests. Additionally, they use a wool blend and other sustainable materials to maintain the commitment to greener EVs.

Cargo Room and Flexibility

The luggage area behind the third row measures 13.6 cubic feet, enough for three golf bags. With the third row down, that expands to 37.3 cubic feet. Fold down rows two and three for maximum cargo space of 75.4 cubic feet. These dimensions reflect the 7-passenger configuration; the figures shrink a little with the 6-seat layout. A storage spot under the hood offers 1.6 cubic feet, if shared with a warning triangle.
