Grant Stahla
Grant Stahla, Co-owner of Stahla Services, a nationwide provider of restroom, shower, and ADA trailer rentals again joins Enterprise Radio.

On this episode, the focus will be on the ADA 3 Stall Restroom Trailer, all the benefits and the specifics of renting this particular trailer for your needs.

Listen to host Eric Dye & guest Grant Stahla discuss the following:

(Host Eric Dye): Grant, who’s reaching for this trailer? Can you share the kinds of situations it’s built for and how you figure out if it’s got enough capacity for, say, a big event or a work crew?”

(Guest Grant Stahla): Absolutely happy to talk about the three stall, handicap accessible restroom trailer. So as the as the name implies, there’s three stalls. This trailer is actually a little bit tricky because it’s some people refer to it as a 2 + 1 or a three stall handicap accessible trailer. There’s one stall on it that’s handicap accessible, or sometimes it’s said that it’s ADA Accessible so Americans with Disabilities Act. It’s built to those specifications, so there’s one stall in the back in the rear of the trailer that there’s a ramp that lowers flat to the ground and then you have two other stalls that are a little bit smaller and there’s steps up to them, so that’s a quick overview of the of that. Yeah, this goes to so many different locations. We have it at a lot of construction sights where they’re doing a remodel on the restrooms and inside the buildings. You’re required to have handicap accessible restroom stalls and so you can bring out this three stall ADA trailer and shut down that bathroom inside of the store and not have to shut down the entire store while you’re doing the remodel. So that’s one of the most common uses that we have for this S3 stall handicap accessible trailer.

(Host Eric Dye): What’s a memorable story of this trailer in action? Maybe a festival, a tough job site, or something unexpected?

(Guest Grant Stahla): Yeah, well this is a fun trailer that we bring to a lot of places. Like I said earlier, we bring them to tailgating festivals. So this trailer is easily able to support 100 people. For events you’re looking at about 1 stall per 75 guest. So for three stalls, it’s about 225 guests that it could support. So if you’re having more of an exclusive event, maybe a VIP area for a golfing tournament and you want good access for everyone that’s there, even if they’re in a wheelchair or a walker, or just kind of struggle with mobility in some way, then this is the trailer for you. That’s specifically the event that I’m talking about, a PGA Tour event where there was an exclusive area for VIP’s that a bank wanted to be able to invite its favorite customers and business partners and also have awesome restrooms there nearby where they could – they could support everyone.

(Host Eric Dye): Can you break down the cost of getting this trailer? What’s renting it look like—daily, weekly, or long-term—and what about buying one outright?

(Guest Grant Stahla): You bet. Happy to talk about pricing. So rental rate for a 28 day rental, you’re about $9700.00 for those 28 days now if you need it for longer than two months, anywhere from two to five months, that price lowers down to $7600 per month and then if you need it for six months or longer. It ends up being $6300 per 28 days. And then a year and a half or longer you’re looking at $5400 so that price point actually drops quite a bit from the $9700 to $5400, if you need it for a year and a half or longer for the weekly pricing, you’re about $6800 per week or the daily PR about $1500 per day. Now, the reason these prices are more expensive than a three stall restroom trailer that’s not handicap accessible is that it costs about $120,000 to purchase this trailer, you might be able to find one a little bit cheaper, a little bit more expensive, but on average about $120,000 to purchase this trailer because it’s built special – where the axle that it has you pull a pin and it actually is able to lift up to the side of the trailer so that it can lower all the way to the ground. And then the waste tanks are changed in this trailer to be above the frame which is different than any other trailer. Same with the water tanks and the pumps and everything, so that the trailer can go all the way to the ground.

(Host Eric Dye) : Paint us a picture of this trailer’s design. What do you see walking up to it, and what’s the experience like stepping inside?

(Guest Grant Stahla): You bet. So this is actually one of the best looking trailers I think. There’s a ramp that’s on the back, so it’s a little 6 foot by 6 foot section and then there’s two sections off of that. So you can use one of the platforms or two of the platforms if you have more slope. And then the other two stalls are just, they split the 1st 2/3 of the trailer for individual rooms so each room actually has its own individual door. There’s no group facilities in this trailer and then obviously you have a trailer tongue in the front half. There’s three vents on the top of the trailer for each of the stalls, and then there’s one A/C unit for the entire trailer. So that’s a quick picture. All these trailers are gonna come in white unless you special order them some other color. Most people don’t. But yeah, that’s a quick overview of the exterior of that trailer.

(Host Eric Dye) : What does it take to keep this trailer running smoothly? Can you walk us through its water, power, and transport requirements?

(Guest Grant Stahla): You bet. So that fresh water tanks 100 gallons, the wastewater tank is 300 gallons. Their polymer tanks inside the mechanical room in the trailer. The mechanical room access is on the driver’s side, and then there’s one small door to be able to access that. The weight that the trailer’s about 8300 lbs. And then it has one 10,000 LB axle that that folds up. Like I said, the elect 4 requirements it needs connections to 22 connections to power 15 amp, 110 Volt and then in the winter it needs three connections to power. Same thing, 15 amp 110 Volt because of the forced air heaters need more power. For the transport and setup when you get to a location you’re gonna unhook like you do any other trailer. But then there’s on the corners of the trailer, there are hydraulic jacks. So just like some of the fancy campers out there or motor homes, you just push a button inside a mechanical room and you’re able to lower those jacks down, lift the trailer up, pull the pin on the axle, and then lower the trailer all the way to the ground and that’s how you get the trailer set up. You fold down the ramps, you connect the handles to be able to have that full ramp platform handle set up. And these trailers are built by most of the manufacturers. You have JAG, Satellite and Lang that are the primary manufacturers of this trailer. And then for the exterior it’s about 19 feet long and 25 feet long with the tongue and then the width of it is about 7 feet wide. And then with the ramps down it ends up being about 19 feet wide, so more than three times the width in it. The trailer is about 11 feet tall with that A/C unit. But then when it’s down or in the kneeling position, it’s just over 9 1/2 feet tall, so it lowers down quite a bit when it’s all the way flat to the ground.

(Host Eric Dye) : Grant, if listeners need to remember just one thing about this trailer, what should it be?

(Guest Grant Stahla): Yeah, well, this three stall, handicap accessible trailers. A great trailer when you have a medium size event, so 200 people they can support really well or if you have a construction site where you need to support 45 people, this is the trailer for you when you’re shutting down a facility when you’re closing down a handicap accessible restroom and you don’t want to lose the thousands of dollars, that of revenue and profit that you need, to keep your store or going when you shut down the restrooms. Then consider getting this three stall handicapped accessible trailer and you don’t have to inhibit any of your operations while you’re doing that, that necessary remodel. So I would say that’s the biggest thing to consider and give us a call at Stahla Services, it’s 844-900-3190, we’d be happy to talk through what are your best solutions on that or visit our website STAHLA.com, that’s STAHLA.com. Definitely, happy to talk through if a three stall, handicap accessible trailer is the one for you.
