After 40 years, duPont REGISTRY’s cover cars capture moments in automotive history.
This year, duPont REGISTRY, the source for supercars since 1985, is celebrating its 40th anniversary. In that time, some of the world’s most desirable, iconic, and influential luxury and exotic cars have graced the cover of our magazine over the past 40 years, and together, the cover cars of duPont REGISTRY’s hundreds of monthly issues tell a story of automotive history and its evolution since the ‘80s.
Looking back at duPont REGISTRY’s cover cars from the year 2003, some serious nostalgia is stirred up for any automotive enthusiast, and each year, a cover car shows an iconic moment of the past, when a car we see as a classic today was the hottest new creation on the market. Take a trip down memory lane and look at our 2003 magazine covers below, and continue to celebrate our milestone anniversary by buying a copy of our special 40th anniversary edition magazine.

January – Ford GT
The legendary Le Mans racing legacy of Ford was revived in the form of the brand’s new flagship supercar at the time: the Ford GT, which showcased the manufacturer’s Modular V8 engine in a new high-performance light along with a stunning design inspired by the original racing legend. It was more than deserving of placement on our January 2003 cover.

February – Lamborghini Murciélago
The automotive star of our February 2003 “Choices” cover was not just any Lamborghini Murciélago, but the example owned by rapper Busta Rhymes with a Verde Ithaca exterior and a white leather interior.

March – Cadillac XLR
Cadillac’s Corvette-related luxury convertible, the XLR, featured a Northstar V8 engine as opposed to the Corvette’s LS, and also used an elegant folding hard-top to transform from coupe to convertible. A highly desirable luxury car in its time, it starred on the March 2003 cover of duPont REGISTRY.

April – Porsche 911 GT3
The racing-focused 997 Porsche 911 GT3 was the cover star of duPont REGISTRY on our 18th Anniversary issue in April 2003.

May – Mercedes-Benz SL Lorinser
Lorinser, a well-known Mercedes-Benz customization specialist, had its take on the legendary Mercedes-Benz SL shown off on the May 2003 cover of duPont REGISTRY.

June – Ferrari 360 Spider
The Ferrari 360 Spider was one of the most iconic supercars of its time, and a customized version of it starred on the June 2003 cover of duPont REGISTRY.

July – Chevrolet Corvette Avelate Conversion
Instead of a standard Corvette gracing the cover of duPont REGISTRY on the July 2003 Corvette issue cover, 2003 featured a unique conversion from Avelate.

August – Lamborghini Gallardo
Lamborghini ushered in its 40th anniversary by introducing a new, now iconic entry-level supercar: the Gallardo. Powered by a V10 engine, the Gallardo was replaced by the Huracán, which was just replaced by the Temerario, which now has a plug-in hybrid twin-turbo V8.

September – Bugatti Veyron
The Bugatti Veyron catalyzed an incredible legacy of hypercars, with the 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged W16 engine it sported only now seeing its retirement after the Chiron and other Bugatti hypercars took it to even greater heights. Resetting the bar for automotive performance, the Bugatti Veyron was proudly shown off on the September 2003 cover of duPont REGISTRY.

October – Pagani Zonda Roadster
Pagani’s incredible Zonda, still one of the most coveted and collector-grade supercars of today, emerged in an open-top form with an appearance on the October 2003 cover of duPont REGISTRY.

November – Koenigsegg CC8S
Just like in the Bugatti Veyron’s appearance on the September 2003 cover and the Zonda Roadster’s October cover, the November 2003 cover featuring the Koenigsegg CC8S highlights the generation of groundbreaking hypercars that was emerging at the time.

December – Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet
The traditional Porsche 911 for the December cover returns for December 2003, this time a 996 911 Turbo Cabriolet.
