2025 Hyundai Tucson vs. 2025 Toyota Corolla Cross Comparison

Posted on July 14, 2025 By rehan.rafique No Comments on 2025 Hyundai Tucson vs. 2025 Toyota Corolla Cross Comparison

Compact and subcompact SUVs are among the most popular vehicles on the road today thanks to their blend of practicality, value, and features. Though they’re technically in different classes, the compact 2025 Hyundai Tucson and subcompact 2025 Toyota Corolla Cross both meet the needs of a lot of today’s shoppers and bring strong traits to the table.

Here’s how these two stack up against each other.

2025 Hyundai Tucson

2025 Hyundai Tucson vs. 2025 Toyota Corolla Cross Comparison

The Hyundai Tucson is the brand’s bestseller and a standard-bearer of the Hyundai lineup, with more than 20 years of history. The latest generation is the most stylish, most sophisticated, and safest to date. For the 2025 model year, the Tucson gets even better. With its latest refresh, the Tucson gains even more technology and up-to-the-minute design. The Tucson is also available with hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains, but we are just focusing on models with the standard, 187-horsepower gasoline engine.

Hyundai Tucson Highlights

Unbeatable warranty: Like every new Hyundai, the Tucson includes a class-leading warranty of five years/60,000 miles bumper to bumper and 10 years/100,000 miles for the powertrain.

Remote Smart Park Assist: The idea of standing outside your vehicle and commanding it to pull in or out of a tight parking spot or garage may still seem like the future, but it’s the present in the Limited trim model.

XRT trim: You can call this the Tucson’s most adventurous guise. It adds trim-specific 18-inch alloy wheels, black side cladding, black front and rear lower fascias, and more. It all gives this version of the Tucson a more rugged appearance and personality.

2025 Toyota Corolla Cross

The Corolla Cross is Toyota’s smallest and least-expensive SUV, yet it brings all the brand’s traits of practicality, efficiency, and ease of use. You won’t find quite as much variety in the lineup vs. the Tucson — three trims vs. the Hyundai’s five — but all are recommendable and bring great value. Like the Tucson, the Toyota Corolla Cross is also available as a highly fuel-efficient hybrid.

Toyota Corolla Cross Highlights

Safety Features: Every Corolla Cross comes loaded with active safety and driver assistance features such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and automatic emergency braking. One of our favorite features is Toyota’s Proactive Driving Assist, which works silently in the background and can do things like automatically slow the vehicle as it heads down a winding road.

Fuel economy: The Corolla Cross earns up to 32 mpg combined, four more than the albeit larger Tucson. And if you want even better fuel economy, the Corolla Cross offers a hybrid variant that’s good for 42 mpg.

XLE trim: The top-line Corolla Cross enjoys a lower starting price than a base Tucson and can be had with features like a JBL premium audio system, power tailgate, moonroof, and faux leather upholstery.

Conclusion

The Corolla Cross is the smaller and less expensive of these two and has a simpler lineup. We think it’s ideal for younger drivers and empty-nesters alike. The Tucson is larger and better for those who need more space and young families. We’ve spent a lot of time in each and think it’s hard to go wrong with either. Assess your needs and budgets, test drive both, and see which wins your heart and mind.
