Mercedes sales dropped by 9% in Q2 2025, with all segments—Top End, Core, and Entry—experiencing declines. Electric vehicle (EV) sales also plummeted dramatically by 24%. Only plug-in hybrid (PHEV) sales increased, up by 4% compared to Q2 2024.
Mercedes-Benz Cars sold 453,700 vehicles in Q2 2025, down 9% from Q2 2024. All segments saw declines.
Top End sales amounted to 64,800 units (14.3% of total sales), down 8% from Q2 2024.
The largest drop was recorded in the Core segment, which fell by 16%, with only 115,100 units sold in Q2 2025. This decrease is attributed to a generational shift in the compact class, with the new Mercedes CLA (available in both mild hybrid and electric versions) set to launch in Europe in August. Due to growing demand for the new CLA, a recovery in this segment is expected in Q3 2025.
The Entry segment declined the least, down only 6% to 273,800 units.
However, the most dramatic situation is in electric vehicle sales, which plunged by 24% to just 35,000 units in Q2 2025. Mercedes hopes the new electric CLA will help revive sales to some extent.
In contrast, PHEV sales were the only segment to show growth, with 94,000 units sold—an increase of 4%.
Mercedes reports that electrified vehicles (EVs and PHEVs combined) accounted for 21% of global sales in Q2 2025.
The best-selling Mercedes model globally remains the Mercedes GLC, with sales rising 9% in Q2 2025. The Mercedes CLE coupe also performed well, with a 30% increase in sales in Q2 2025.

Europe was the only region to see growth, up 1% to 159,700 units, mainly due to a 7% increase in Germany.

Asia saw a 16% decline to 189,200 units, driven by a 19% drop in China.

North America sales dropped 14% to 80,600 units.
Sales for the First Half of 2025:
In the first half of 2025, sales totaled 900,000 units, down 6% compared to the same period in 2024. Of these, 75,700 were electric vehicles (a 19% decrease), and 180,800 were PHEVs (no change).

Van Sales:
The van division also posted a 10% drop in Q2 2025, with 93,400 units sold compared to Q2 2024. However, electric van sales rose. Although volumes are still low, the 6,900 units sold in Q2 2025 represent a 32% increase from Q2 2024.
