BangShift.com Can You Believe That The ULTIMATE GASSER Was Sold at an Estate Sale – Real Drag Racing History Uncovered!

Tommy Lee Byrd, the Hot Rod Hoarder, has another amazing story and video featuring a historically awesome 1932 Ford Gasser! Tommy finds the coolest stuff, and we love him for it. There is no good reason for me to tell you the story he’s about to tell, or that he has already written so well, so read the story below and then watch the video!

Here’s the story.

Nearly 50 YEARS of hibernation protected the bones of this incredible 1932 Ford three-window coupe, but underneath a glossy candy apple red paint job is a legit old school drag car with YEARS of history at tracks like U.S. 30 (Gary, Indiana), Great Lakes Dragway and many more.

The 1932 Ford has always been considered the ultimate hot rod, and it even inspired The Beach Boys song, “Little Deuce Coupe”. There were plenty of Deuce coupe drag cars in the day, but very few were as well known as the one in this video. This car was originally known as “The Judge” starting 1968, and later changed paint with a vibrant orange and white scheme with “The King Speed Shop” lettered on the doors and The Judge lettered on the deck lid.

This car always ran a big block Chevy, often using a tunnel ram and two Holley four-barrel carburetors. It was a 4 speed car and it was known for its giant wheelies. The car ran in the B/Gas class for most of its career, and was the flagship car for a regionally famous speed shop based out of Lansing, Illinois. The car ran its course and by 1974, it was time to make a change. One of the employees at The King Speed Shop bought the car and had it repainted. He intended to make a street rod out of it, but the project stalled out and the car sat for nearly 50 years.

Just a few months ago, the car was sold through an estate sale, and found a new home. The new owner plans to restore the car back to its drag racing days, so we’ll keep you posted with progress on the rebuild. For now, let’s take a look at the history of this amazing Estate Sale Find, and check out what makes it so special.
