June saw some dramatic improvements in car sales for brands while others found the going tough.
Stellantis owned DS was the top performer for the month with a five-fold (588.8%) increase in sales to 577 units closely followed by fast growing Chinese brand BYD which delivered a 557.5% increase in sales to 4,583.
Polestar was also in the ascendancy for the month with registration up 293.2% to 2,595 while Peugeot, another Stellantis brand was up 76.8% to 8,057 units for the month.
At the other end of the table, there was a raft of brands showing double-digit declines. SEAT saw sales decline 47.3% to 1,682 units while Suzuki was down 38.4% to 1,417 models sold. Fiat fell 31.5% to 757 units while Honda was down 26.4% to 1,678 units.
Toyota was down 23.9% to 8,423 units while Audi fell 19.3% to 9,624 units for the month.
Overall, the new car market was up 6.7% in June to 191,316 units in a push market with carmakers using every channel to drive registrations to highest level since 2019.
Battery electric car demand rises 39.1% to 47,354 units with one in four buyers going electric – but this was still below mandated levels.
