A few adjustments on the nose of the Italian grand tourer and it looks like a next-gen Toyota GR Supra

- The new Ferrari Amalfi debuted this week as the follow-up to the Roma.
- The model was well received but drew comparisons to Toyota’s styling language.
- A digital rendering turns the entry-level Ferrari into a fictional next-gen Supra.
Ferrari’s latest creation, the Amalfi, brings a captivating mix of Italian design and performance to the entry-level corner of the company’s lineup. It arrives with classic grand tourer proportions and a potent twin-turbo V8 tucked beneath the hood.
On paper, it’s everything you’d expect from Maranello. But as soon as images hit the internet, it wasn’t long before people started noticing a resemblance to a very different kind of car, the Toyota Prius, of all things.

Digital artist Theophilus Chin, better known as Theottle, took that idea and ran with it. Using a set of clever visual tweaks, he reimagined the Ferrari Amalfi as a next-generation Toyota GR Supra. The transformation is surprisingly effective, even if no one seriously expects a Toyota to look quite this refined.
Typically, transforming a Ferrari into a Toyota would seem to require major visual changes. However, Theottle proved that it isn’t necessarily the case. A side-by-side comparison with the original image shows that the modifications are surprisingly minimal. The fictional Toyota version features redesigned headlights and a subtly wider grille, but the lower bumper and overall bodywork remain unchanged.
To complete the makeover, the artist removed the Ferrari shields from the front fenders and swapped in Toyota badges on the nose and wheels. Interestingly, the vibrant Giallo Modena paint didn’t need to be altered either. It’s already close in tone to the Karashi yellow used on the Toyota Prius, making the color fit right in with the Toyota aesthetic.

Design Convergence or Coincidence?
The conversation around visual overlaps between Ferrari and Toyota isn’t entirely new. Ferrari’s SF90, introduced in 2019, brought in a front-end design that isn’t all that different from Toyota’s hammerhead-style nose, which has since become a common feature across much of the Japanese brand’s lineup. That similarity is part of why the Toyota Crown Sport SUV, sold in Japan, has drawn comparisons to a budget version of the Ferrari Purosangue.

Social media users also pointed out that the Ferrari Amalfi shares a few design cues with another Japanese model, the Honda Prelude. The Civic-based coupe features a narrow grille between the headlights and similarly shaped bumper intakes. That said, its bulkier silhouette doesn’t quite match the sleek proportions of Ferrari’s grand tourer.
We will leave it up to you whether Ferrari designers took inspiration from mainstream brands. Either way, it’ll be worth watching to see if the next-generation Toyota Celica and Supra carry any hints of Maranello in their styling.
