Polestar Engineered 20″ Forged Alloys | SwedeSpeed

I bought these new and have been using them for the past three years on my Polestar 2 Long Range Dual Motor. When I bought my car in 2021 I just couldn’t justify the extra £5,000 for the Performance Pack which added forged alloy wheels, Brembo brakes, Ohlins adjustable dampers and the usual flurry of gold accessories. I really, really liked the 20″ forged wheel design but they could only be obtained as part of the performance pack and not as an individual upgrade to the standard dual motor. After four years of owning my P2 I can confirm that I rarely use the brakes as one pedal driving is my preference. I also know I would never have adjusted the dampers. Did I mention I really, really liked the Polestar forged wheels? Well, I did, until about six months into owning my new car when I found the Holy Grail… the Polestar Engineered forged alloy wheels from the latest generations of S60/V60/XC60. In 2022 Volvo dealerships in the UK were retailing these wheels for £1,100 a corner, or £4,400 for the set – I know as I phoned a few to ask. Over the next few months I kept looking at pictures of these wheels online, and that’s when I found a post on this forum – a member had purchased five sets from a UK dealer who had gone into administration and the deal was that they had to take all five sets even though they only wanted to keep a set of 20″ for summer and 19″ for winter. That left three sets available… and I was lucky enough to get a set of 20″ which (after a lot of research) were a perfect fit for my Polestar 2. I am just about to take delivery of a Polestar 3 and I need to find a new home for my Polestar 2 and my Polestar Engineered wheels. I asked for advice on the Polestar Forum and the majority view was to put the original wheels back on my P2, main reason being it will be more difficult to find someone wanting a P2 who would be prepared to pay a little more for the PE wheels over a standard car. So, having spent so long wanting these I am now reluctantly looking to find a new home for them. Whilst I thought they might look good mounted to the wall in my study, I was out-voted in what I can only describe as an unfair family election.

I have looked after them. I had Continental Sport Contact 5 and now Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres with rim protection. Any time I happened to be in the passenger seat I would provide a loud audible warning any time we went near a kerb, shouting “WHEELS”… which I think makes me all the more loveable to my family. Ok, maybe not.

All of the wheels apart from one are in perfect condition. One wheel has a very small single 4mm graze on the edge of the rim where the tyre rim protector just wasn’t enough one day when parking at slow speed. I literally wept. I went straight home and washed the wheel to remove any dirt or brake dust, and the next day the wheel was off the car at a specialist wheel centre to have any rough edges removed from the small scratch and two coats of lacquer applied on top. It’s very difficult to spot as the tyre rim protector sits over it and it is so small – only 4mm (see photos).
