The Lexus LX sits at the top of the luxury brand’s range of impressive SUVs in terms of both size and price. This flagship SUV’s current generation came out in 2022, but its big change for 2025 is a new hybrid variant called the LX 700h. A non-hybrid turbo V6 remains as the base engine, but the rugged Overtrail and opulent Ultra Luxury trims are hybrid-only.
The Lexus LX is predictably luxurious inside, no matter how it’s optioned. Let’s take a closer look at its interior.
Passenger Room and Comfort
Let’s start with the seat count. The Lexus LX is available with four, five, six, or seven seats. Most models have six or seven seats; seven with the bench second row and six with second-row captain’s chairs. You can forego the third row in the Overtrail trim, making it a 5-seater, and the Ultra Luxury trim has a 4-seat setup with a big center console for the second row, like a well-equipped Range Rover.
Although this is the biggest Lexus SUV, you may be surprised that the cabin isn’t roomier than it is. The second row is pretty adult-friendly as long as the front-seat occupants aren’t too tall, and the third row is best reserved for children with only 31.1 inches of legroom. Not only do the top rivals of the Lexus LX — the BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS — have more seating space, but so does the Lexus TX, a more affordable midsize SUV that’s also available as a hybrid.
Although the passenger room is a little disappointing for such a big SUV, the seats themselves are quite comfortable in the first two rows.
Features and Tech

A few standard creature comforts include leather seats, heated and ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats, four-zone automatic climate control, a head-up display, a wireless charging pad, and a Cool Box, which serves as a small refrigerator in the center console.
The Lexus Interface is controlled with a 12.3-inch touchscreen display, which is clear, user-friendly, and feature-rich. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay come standard. Audiophiles will want to upgrade to the available 25-speaker Mark Levinson Reference Surround Sound System.
The standard Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 bundles driver assistance tech features like automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, road sign assist, automatic high beams, and Proactive Driving Assist, which can gently help with braking and steering in city driving.
Materials and Design

The Lexus LX is a big and expensive luxury SUV, and that’s what it looks and feels like inside. Its interior design is fancy without being too flashy or showy; it has an air of restrained sophistication without looking too minimalist. Every LX has leather upholstery, and most trims have semi-aniline leather and massaging front seats.
Upgrading to the Ultra Luxury trim brings diamond-stitched leather to the 4-seat interior, along with a rear entertainment system, a rear center console with wireless charging, and massaging and reclining back seats with an ottoman on the right side.
Interior trim materials change depending on which style you go with. The Premium, Luxury, and Overtrail trims have open-pore wood trim, while the Ultra Luxury model upgrades to a special Takanoha handcrafted wood trim with a pattern inspired by eagle feathers in traditional Japanese art. Meanwhile, the sporty F Sport Handling models use Hadori aluminum trim, which mimics the craftsmanship used in Japanese swords.
Cargo Room and Flexibility

Much like its passenger space, the Lexus LX’s cargo space lags its rivals and Lexus’s own TX midsize SUV. Cargo room in the LX is limited to 11 cubic feet behind the third row, 44 cubic feet behind the second row, and 64 cubic feet with all of the rear seats folded down. The Mercedes-Benz GLS and Lexus TX can carry significantly more cargo; the TX has almost double the space behind the third row.
