Mercedes builds anticipation with a teaser video featuring the sound of the electric successor to the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door coupe. It sounds like a classic AMG V8 engine.

Mercedes is doing everything it can to attract customers to its electric models by making them emotionally engaging. That’s exactly the case with the upcoming four-door coupe, the successor to the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door coupe, which, like the model it replaces, will be a standalone AMG vehicle.

On May 8, 2025, Mercedes-AMG posted a teaser on its Facebook page, announcing “something big for June 2025.” The post included the hashtag #SOAMG and featured the silhouette of a sports car.

Now Mercedes-AMG has taken another step and released a short video on its Instagram page (@mercedesamg), where for the first time, you can hear the sound of this super coupe. The surprise: the sound closely resembles that of current AMG combustion-engine models.

The video is accompanied by the following caption:

“Hear that? Wait till the end and get to know the sound of your next obsession. Pure power. Redefined. Our high-performance electric architecture is coming.”

Two Models on the New AMG.EA Platform

Mercedes-AMG will build two standalone models that have no equivalent in the regular Mercedes lineup: the four-door coupe and an SUV, whose silhouette was also revealed in camouflage at the end of last year.

As confirmed in the teaser released on May 8, 2025, the new coupe will feature daytime running lights and taillights shaped like the Mercedes logo. Its dimensions will be very close to those of the current Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door coupe. The electric successor is based on the Mercedes Vision AMG Concept, which is 5,100 mm long with a 3,100 mm wheelbase.

Mercedes hasn’t revealed any interior details yet, but rumors suggest it will be inspired by the Vision One Eleven Concept.

The new electric super coupe will be powered by axial flux motors developed by Yasa and will compete with the Porsche Taycan, which was updated last year. A single Yasa axial flux motor weighs only 24 kg and can deliver up to 474 PS (468 hp) and 800 Nm of torque.
