The 2025 Kia Sorento: Who Is This Car For?

The 2025 Kia Sorento is such a good family SUV that we’re surprised it doesn’t have more direct rivals. The Sorento sits on the smaller and more affordable side of the midsize SUV class but comes standard with 3-row seating for up to seven. It’s not as roomy as its bigger or pricier rivals, including Kia’s own Telluride, but it’s an excellent value for anyone who could benefit from extra seats but might not need them every day. Its value comes from its reasonable pricing, class-leading warranty coverage, and good fuel economy, especially from its two optional hybrid powertrains.

The Kia Sorento entered its current (fourth) generation in 2021 and received a facelift in 2024. The 2021 redesign introduced a new platform that improved comfort and interior space over the previous Sorento, plus modernized styling, a nicer interior with updated technology like dual panoramic displays, and new engines, including a hybrid and a lively turbo option. A plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) arrived in 2022.

The 2024 facelift gave the Sorento a more rugged appearance. It brought further tech updates, including new options like a panoramic curved display combining two 12.3-inch screens, the Highway Driving Assist 2 suite of safety features, Digital Key 2.0, and USB-C ports. Other highlights from the 2024 refresh include standard wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as the introduction of the off-road-ready X-Pro models.
