After a week of driving his new 2025 Corvette ZR1 and now with a couple of hundred miles on the odometer, this new owner took to YouTube to share some of his thoughts on driving the new car, as well as what he thinks about the just-released Corvette ZR1X.

Last weekend, we shared the video with “Wheeler” who had just taken delivery of VIN 020 from Don Mealey Chevrolet in Florida. The ZR1 Coupe looks great and it came in with an MSRP of $213,965. However, he did admit in that first video of paying $50,000 over sticker, so his out the door price was $263K.

For Wheeler, this is his 5th Corvette, and he explained how he has never had any issues with any of them, including his 2024 Z06. None of them ever left him stranded, so he’s become a huge fan of the car over the years.

Upon entering the ZR1, he calls it “familiar” to his previous Z06 or even the base Stingray. Even with its powerful 1,064 horsepower engine, he says the initial driving experience at lower RPMs does not feel drastically different from the C8 Z06. The Z06 and ZR1 both feature a 5.5-liter V8 engine, with the Z06 producing 670 horsepower, while the ZR1, equipped with two turbos, pushes this figure to 1,064 horsepower. However, the real power difference becomes apparent only when the turbos spool up at higher RPMs.

However, at this point he is still restricted with the 500-mile break-in period with the engine’s RPM is limited to around 5,000 RPM. Despite that, he calls the feeling of driving the car at the lower RPMs very similar to his Z06. “The few times that I have, you know, punched it a little bit just to see what it can do, you feel the turbos and you feel them hard,” he says.

Just days after being one of the first owners in the country to bring home a new 2025 Corvette ZR1, Chevrolet revealed the new Corvette ZR1X. How does he feel about that? “With the ZR1 even only being out for like a week, it’s already been one-upped by the ZR1X. So as a ZR1 owner how do I feel about the ZR1X being announced and this car being, you know, outdated already? I don’t really care to be honest. I knew the ZR1X or ZR1E or whatever they were going to call the electric variant was coming, and I was more than happy to purchase this vehicle,” says Wheeler.

“I had no doubts that I was going to be impressed with this car as I was, you know, the Z06 and the Stingray. Chevy has not put out a bad Corvette in a long time in my opinion. I couldn’t be happier to be able to own and drive and enjoy this vehicle.”

Give the video a watch below! Wheeler says he has more in store including a trip to the dyno and some more driving videos once the break-in period has been reached.
