At first, flippers jumped for joy, but nowadays, you can get one with nearly delivery mileage for less than the sticker price

- Someone just snagged a Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 at auction for less than MSRP.
- This example has just 134 miles on the odometer and just about every option one could want.
- The days of super-high values for the general Demon 170 population seem truly over.
No matter what anyone thinks about the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170, there’s no denying that it has firmly etched its name into muscle car history. With a drivetrain capable of churning out up to 1,025 horsepower and 945 lb-ft of torque, it’s an absolute beast.
Two decades ago, the idea of this car being a production vehicle with a full warranty would have sounded like a joke. Today, it’s an icon in its class, but don’t expect it to hold its value at the same level as other muscle car legends.

That’s the takeaway after one just traded hands at auction for $128,000. That’s thousands less than the MSRP for this particular car, which reportedly cost $134,600. We’re not talking about a clapped-out, heavily used, lightly damaged car here either. We’re talking about a well-equipped, extremely low-mileage example with lots of extras. How low mileage, you ask? How’s 132 miles sound?
On top of that, the new owner gets the parachute kit, Demonic Red Laguna leather upholstery, an 18-speaker sound system from Harman Kardon, Mickey Thompson tires, factory-spec Lacks Enterprises 18″ front and 17″ rear carbon-fiber wheels, and yes, the fancy schmancy decanter set that came with the car from the dealer. If there’s anything to complain about, it’s the relatively mundane Granite paint scheme. Even then, though, it looks pretty sleek.
The comment section appeared to take the stance that this was a steal. “Wow great deal for a premium spec demon,” said one. “WOWZW WOWZA…. steal of the year on BaT. Well done,” said another. No doubt, this appears to be a good deal overall for a car that should run well for years to come.
Based on several other results, it’s the lowest winning bid so far, but it could end up beat soon. Only a few days ago, a Demon 170 used as a promotional tool sold for just $130,000. That one had only nine miles on the odometer and was a desirable red paint color.
Could we soon see a Demon 170 with a couple thousand miles on it trade for less than six figures? Honestly, at this point, it seems pretty much inevitable.
