Listen to host Eric Dye & guest Chuck Wisner discuss the following:

  1. Why did you decide to write this book?
  2. You talk about awareness and ego at the beginning of the book. What role do they play in having more conscious conversations?
  3. Why are conscious conversations important to our well-being and improving relationships?
  4. In the book you talk about how our patterned thinking and reactions set us up for stressful conversation. How do we begin to minimize our autopilot reactions in conversations?
  5. You write in the book about our “private conversations”—or thinking one thing while we say something else. What does that do to us, and how can we stop?
  6. The state of the world in many cases is fueling our personal worry. Why do you think it’s so hard to detach from what we see in the news, and how can we reset?
  7. Why are collaborative conversations—in politics, in the office, or at home—with people with differing points of view so hard to have, and how can we approach them so we are more productive?
  8. You write in the book that our interpretation of what someone says is rarely 100%. What we say isn’t what someone else hears, and what someone else says isn’t what we hear. Can you explain?
  9. What do you do if you regret something you said at work or home? Is there a playbook to make a thoughtful amends?
