Kia EV2 Coupe-Style Version Spotted for the First Time

Kia EV2 Coupe-Style Version Spotted for the First Time

Posted on June 19, 2025 By rehan.rafique No Comments on Kia EV2 Coupe-Style Version Spotted for the First Time

In a surprising discovery, a coupe-like version of the upcoming Kia EV2 has been caught testing near the Hyundai-Kia R&D Center in Namyang, South Korea. Our colleagues at Shortscar managed to snap spy shots that hint at a sportier and more design-forward take on Kia’s forthcoming entry-level electric vehicle.

Sleek Coupe Roofline Signals Bold Styling Shift

What immediately caught attention was the dramatically sloping roofline, a clear departure from the more upright design of the standard EV2 prototypes spotted in previous months. The prototype showcases a fastback-style silhouette, merging SUV practicality with coupe aesthetics—similar to what we’ve seen with the likes of the Volkswagen ID.5 or the Renault Mégane E-Tech.

Despite the camouflage, the proportions suggest that Kia is preparing to offer multiple body styles under the EV2 badge, likely targeting style-conscious buyers in the compact EV crossover segment.

Compact EV Designed for Global Affordability

The Kia EV2 is expected to be the brand’s most affordable fully electric model, likely built on a modified version of the E-GMP platform or a cost-effective derivative optimized for entry-level EVs. With a target price expected to start under €30,000, the EV2 aims to compete directly with cars like the Renault 5 E-Tech Electric, Citroën ë-C3, and VW ID.2all.

The coupe-style version could come at a slight premium, offering a more upscale and performance-oriented alternative in Kia’s growing electric portfolio.

Performance and Range Expectations

While technical specifications for the coupe-styled EV2 remain unconfirmed, the model is likely to feature:

  • Front-wheel drive layout
  • Single motor setup
  • Battery capacity estimated around 40 to 50 kWh
  • Estimated range: 300 to 400 km (WLTP)

Depending on the market, a dual-motor AWD version or a GT-Line trim could potentially follow, in line with Kia’s usual product rollout.

When Will It Launch?

The standard Kia EV2 is expected to debut in late 2025 or early 2026, with production potentially taking place in Europe to align with EV incentives and reduce logistics costs. The coupe-style version, seen in these latest spy shots, could be unveiled shortly afterward—possibly as a 2026 model year variant.

Final Thoughts

The appearance of this coupe-like Kia EV2 signals the brand’s intent to inject design diversity and flair even into its entry-level EVs. With the electric market becoming increasingly competitive, a stylish, budget-friendly electric crossover coupe could be a strong differentiator for Kia.
