Bilsteins B6/8, Koni SpecActive and Eibachs. | SwedeSpeed

I think I’ve gathered the appropriate part numbers from much of the reading I’ve done on the site with very few posts specifically identifying the actual part numbers. I’m surmizing there are not many going to either, instead, sticking to OEM in most cases. Most of my searches surrounding Bilstein’s of course advise that they don’t fit a 2015 XC70 on Viva’s and other sites including Bilsteins, however, that hasn’t stopped some from installing B6’s and B8’s. The Koni’s are a direct fit.

I’m looking to go to Bilsteins over Koni Reds (I would 100% go with Koni Yellow Adjustables if they made them for this application, Koni confirms there is not a direct fit), but hoping to get a confirmation that I have the correct part numbers from users on this site for my application:

B8 (lower)
35-143628 FR
35-143611 FL
24-143646 R
B6 (OEM height)
35-144977 FR
35-144960 FL
24-143639 R

I’ve been advised that the Bilstein B8’s are lower or accomadate lowering springs more effecitvely. So my question here for those who might know is, using Eibachs on either, am I going to see a bigger drop on he car just using B8’s over using B6’s? (will be contacting Bilstein on this, but would be nice if someone with experience can advise based on practical experience).

Secondly, if B8’s are specd for the S60/v70 Models, am I going to see a drop over my OEM Volvo struts and shocks leaving my stock springs in?

Assuming the B8’s won’t be as compliant as the B6’s as they are supposedly shorter, how much firmer are B6’s over Koni Reds? Bone Jarring, sickly or just a lot firmer but still compliant? I prefer a firmer and sportier ride, more control, better damping. I will be ordering at least a read sway bar, contemplating a front and rear KC Designs combo as well.

I’ve read that there are more complaints about B8’s and even B6’s being overly stiff, but have not read anyone complain about wear or mechanical issues regarding their quality. I have read where people have had breakdowns or early wear on the Koni’s and even that the Koni’s felt underdampened, whether with stock springs, or Eibachs. i really don’t want only a slight improvement over stock and then have to replace struts a couple of years down the road.

Any input you could provide as a user would be greatly appreciated. Unfortunately it seems so little input, I’m bordering on ordering a set of Scale Coilovers which may be relatively stiff, but I have much more control over camber, height control and dampening characteristics and spring rate choices.

Much thanks in advance!

BTW: My ride: OEM with 245/40/20’s
