If you want to upgrade your company fleet, but you aren’t sure if now is the right time to do that, then this is the guide for you. This guide will tell you when you should think about making a change and what to look out for.

Your Fleet is Over 5 Years Old

When Should You Upgrade your Company Fleet?
Watch the rising age of your fleet

If you have a fleet of vehicles that is over 5 years old, then this is the best time for you to upgrade. At this stage, van warranties may have expired, and you may also find that the mileage has increased too. As if that wasn’t enough, you may find that you end up paying more for maintenance, and this can add up over time. If you know that the warranty has run out, then repair costs will be higher as well, and this can result in more complications overall. If you want to keep your business moving forward, then one of the best things you can do is upgrade before it gets too expensive to maintain your current fleet.

You Need More from Your Cars

Another sign that you need to upgrade is if you need more from your cars as a whole. Upfitting is a great way for you to work around this, and it allows you to keep the fleet you already have. Police & emergency vehicle upfitting is a good way to go if you work in public services, so be sure to keep this in mind. As well as that, you also need to make sure that you consider the type of vehicles you are using the most. If you know that the cars you have are not giving you what you need, then this is a big sign that you need to make a change here. If you don’t, then you may find that your business becomes inefficient, and when the time comes for you to scale, you simply can’t do it.

More miles can mean more repairs

You’ve Driven over 100,000 Miles

On average, a delivery van will do 13,000 miles a year. You need to keep this in mind with your current fleet, as it can indicate that it is time for you to change things up a bit. The more distance you travel, the more maintenance you need to do to keep your car on the road. You also need to be prepared for things like increasing operating costs.  If you can do this, then you will soon find that it is easier for you to not only get the result you want, but also make sure that you are not paying more for a car that is simply not giving you what you need. Of course, with added mileage comes added complications as well. When you have a car that has travelled more miles, you may find that you end up having more operating costs. This is a very expensive consequence of not considering upgrades at an earlier date. With that said, all of this is avoidable if you simply know what steps to take when your car starts to hit that limit.
