2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV Gets Trail Boss

The 2025 Chevrolet Silverado EV is a stunningly capable electric truck, with a maximum range of 492 miles and towing capacity up to 12,500 pounds. Those numbers beat the Ford F-150 Lightning and Tesla Cybertruck.

But Chevrolet has introduced it slowly, introducing new trim levels one by one instead of dropping a full lineup at once.

Trail Boss Joins the Lineup

For its third year on the market, the new guy is an off-roader. Chevrolet will introduce a rugged new Trail Boss model for the next model year. Starting at $72,095 (including a mandatory $2,095 destination fee), it brings new off-road gear to the Silverado EV lineup. The new model arrives this summer.

The Trail Boss sits 2 inches higher than other trim levels. Chevrolet says that gives it 24% higher ground clearance. A retuned suspension uses hydraulic rebound control to better absorb bumps and bashes on the trail. It rides on 35-inch all-terrain tires and gets a unique front fascia to improve the approach angle.

Two new driving modes help it out of sticky situations on the trail. “Compared to Normal mode, Terrain mode unlocks sharper 4-Wheel Steer, giving drivers better ability to control torque and traction at low speeds,” Chevrolet says. A new Sidewinder mode “allows all four wheels to turn in the same direction and move the truck diagonally at low speeds.”

Visually, Trail Boss models get red front tow hooks and beadlock-design 18-inch wheels.

Work Truck Available for Non-Fleet Buyers

If you check Chevy’s configurator today, you’ll find the entry-level Silverado EV WT missing from the available choices. It’s still visible to fleet buyers, but not retail customers.

A brand spokesperson confirms to us that the WT will be an option for everyone.
