Chery’s E5 electric small SUV has been updated with a new name and price cuts of up to $3000, but no styling changes to mirror its C5 petrol sibling.

- Omoda E5 renamed to E5 alongside C5 petrol model
- RRPs cut by up to $3000, but drive-away offers available
- Priced from $39,990 before on-road costs
Chery’s first electric car in Australia has received a new name and price cuts of up to $3000 for 2025.
The 2025 Chery E5 is the new name for the existing Omoda E5 – which launched less than 12 months ago – with its ‘Omoda’ branding replaced with ‘Chery’ at the front and rear, and on its steering wheel and wheel caps.
Chery has removed the Omoda branding from the E5 and its C5, née Omoda 5, petrol sibling to keep them in its Australian line-up as it prepares to launch future Omoda vehicles under a separate brand.
Omoda vehicles will be sold alongside Jaecoo models in Australia with a separate dealer network from the main Chery brand.

Its launch line-up is likely to include the Omoda 3 and Omoda 7 SUVs.
Each Chery E5 variant has been renamed for 2025, with the entry-level BX now known as the Urban and the top-of-the-range EX renamed to Ultimate to match the petrol Chery C5 it is based on.
Specification differences for the Urban and Ultimate – which are sold as Model Year 2025 vehicles – beyond the different badging include the deletion of built-in satellite navigation across the range, while puddle lamps have been removed from the flagship variant.
“Both models continue to have Apple CarPlay / Android Auto for navigation requirements,” a Chery Australia spokesperson told Drive.

Officially, the E5 Urban now starts from under $40,000 at $39,990 before on-road costs – but it is currently available for around $40,000 drive-away in all states and territories as a special offer.
Its RRP is down $3000 over the launch price of the equivalent Omoda E5 BX, though Chery has discounted it in recent months, including a limited-time $6000 cut to a $36,990 RRP at the start of 2025.
The E5 Ultimate retails for $43,990 before on-road costs – or around $45,000 drive-away as a special offer – down $2000 over the outgoing Omoda E5 EX.

It continues to use a 150kW/340Nm front electric motor and a 61.1kWh lithium-iron phosphate battery pack, rated with a driving range of up to 430 kilometres under the European WLTP lab-test standard.
Chery has not announced any plans to expand its electric-car line-up in Australia beyond the E5 small SUV, though it is preparing to launch hybrid versions of its Tiggo 4, Tiggo 7, Tiggo 8 and Tiggo 9 in the coming months.
The 2025 Chery E5 is on sale now alongside the updated Chery C5 petrol model.
