Toyota has unveiled the redesigned 2026 Toyota RAV4 SUV. The big news is that the new RAV4 will only be available with electrified powertrains, there’s a new sporty RAV4 GR Sport model, more style and improved tech features.

Starting with what’s under the hood, the 2026 RAV4 is available either as a hybrid or a plug-in hybrid. The RAV4 hybrid is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with Toyota’s fifth-generation hybrid system that generates a combined 226 horsepower with front-wheel drive, while the all-wheel drive version has 236 hp. This is the first time that the RAV4 hybrid is available with front-wheel drive.
The RAV4 plug-in hybrid is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors that generate a combined 320 horsepower, which is an increase of 18 hp over the last model. Thanks to new silicon carbide semiconductors the RAV4 PHEV has a longer electric driving range, up to 50 miles. The RAV4 PHEV XSE and Woodland trim levels can be charged using a DC fast charger that will charge the battery from 10-80 percent in 30 minutes.
On the outside, the new RAV4 has a bolder look and unique versions to satisfy most tastes. There’s the standard Core trim level with its paint-matched grille and wide black overfenders. If you want a more rugged look, then there’s the RAV4 Woodland with its slightly raised face and integrated Rigid Industries LED lighting. The Woodland model also comes with all-terrain tires that give it about a half inch higher height, raised roof rails and a 1 1/4 inch rear activity mount.

If you want to go for a sportier look, there’s the RAV4 GR Sport, which was designed with input from the Toyota Gazoo Racing team. It features a GR-tuned suspension and steering system, better body rigidity, and summer tires with 20-inch wheels. The GR Sport model also stands out with a unique grille and front and rear spoilers.

Inside you can choose either a 10.5-inch or 12.9-inch touchscreen and the RAV4 comes standard with a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. A head-up display is optional and it comes standard with a six-speaker audio system, while a nine speaker JBL audio system is available.
On the tech front, the RAV4 is equipped with Arene, a new software development platform created by Woven by Toyota that will be the foundation for the safety, security and connectivity systems. The RAV4 arrives with the newest version of the Toyota Audio Multimedia system, which is powered by Arene. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, the Voice Assistant has quicker response times and map and navigation functionality has been integrated into the gauge cluster. The 2026 RAV4 will also be the first model to get the newest version of Toyota’s safety suite, called Toyota Safety Sense 4.0.

The 2026 Toyota RAV4 will arrive later this year.
