Reports suggest that Ram’s electrified line-up could be pushed back as late as mid-2027, as consumer demand cools.
The Ram 1500 REV electric and Ramcharger plug-in hybrid pick-ups have suffered introduction setbacks that could now see them launch as late as the middle of 2027.
The delays, as reported by Motor1, come despite traditional rivals including the Ford F-150 and Chevrolet Silverado EV having already launched, along with the Tesla Cybertruck and Rivian R1T.
Ram first showed the Ram 1500 REV in February 2023 and, at the time, the brand targeted a production introduction before the end of 2024.
Since Ram’s parent company, Stellantis, had announced that the 1500 REV and Ramcharger PHEV have suffered delays and that their introduction would take place in the 2025 calendar year.

The latest round of delays now targets the Northern Hemisphere summer of 2027 for the Ram 1500 REV, meaning a production debut sometime between late June and September of that year.
Like the F-150 Lightning, the Ram 1500 BEV takes the existing 1500’s major body hardpoints, with an electric drivetrain and specific EV platform replacing the six-cylinder (currently) and V8 (previously) petrol engines offered in regular models.
Ram’s initial product rollout had the 1500 REV set to arrive ahead of the range-extender Ramcharger model, but the production timing for these two models has now been switched.
The Ram 1500 Ramcharger, which made its public debut in November 2023, now looks set to enter production in the first quarter of 2026 (January to March).

Marketed as a range-extender, the plug-in hybrid Ramcharger features a 3.6-litre V6 (rather than Ram’s new Hurricane inline six-cylinder engine) and a 92-kilowatt-hour battery pack for a targeted combined driving range of over 1100km from full charge and full tank.
Like the Ram 1500 REV, the Ramcharger features front and rear electric motors to drive the wheels, with the V6 functioning solely as a generator to top up the battery when regular wall charging is unavailable.
The latest round of delays would see the Ramcharger introduced just over two years after being first shown, while the 1500 REV will have run over four years from first being shown to going on sale, pending any further delays.
Stellantis has already reportedly cancelled plans for the longest-range version of the Ram 1500 BEV, with this latest round of delays extending the head start rival US pick-up truck brands have in the EV sector.
