Hyundai Sets 50,000 Hydrogen Sales Target with Pre-Contract of the All-New NEXO from May 15

Hyundai Motor Company is ramping up its push into hydrogen mobility with the pre-contract launch of the All-New NEXO beginning May 15, as it aims to solidify its leadership in the eco-friendly vehicle market. With customer deliveries starting at the end of June, Hyundai is targeting a major milestone—50,000 cumulative hydrogen vehicle sales by the end of 2025.

Pre-Contracts for the All-New NEXO Begin May 15

The highly anticipated All-New NEXO, a full-change model of Hyundai’s flagship hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV), opens for pre-contracts on May 15, signaling strong momentum ahead of its official launch. This move reflects Hyundai’s confidence in hydrogen technology and its commitment to expanding the domestic hydrogen vehicle market.

Hyundai Aims for 50,000 Cumulative Hydrogen Car Sales

As of March 2025, Hyundai has recorded approximately 37,020 cumulative sales of the NEXO. With the addition of the All-New NEXO and a production plan of 13,000 units for this year alone, Hyundai expects to surpass 50,000 hydrogen vehicle sales within the next few months—a key target that reinforces its dominance in the hydrogen space.

To further support this goal, the Korean Ministry of Environment has allocated 721.8 billion won in subsidies for hydrogen mobility in 2025. The budget will help fund the purchase of around 11,000 hydrogen vehicles, significantly reducing the actual cost to consumers and encouraging wider adoption.

Why This Matters

The 50,000-unit milestone isn’t just a number—it’s a strategic signal. Hyundai is positioning itself not just as a carmaker, but as a leader in clean hydrogen energy, laying the groundwork for future competitiveness in both domestic and global markets.

By launching the All-New NEXO and aligning it with attractive government subsidies and infrastructure expansion, Hyundai is leveraging a powerful combination of product innovation and policy support to lead the hydrogen vehicle revolution.
