- The 2026 Toyota bZ now offers up to 338 hp, significantly increasing power output.
- The refreshed EV includes dual wireless charging pads and relocated controls.
- With a new NACS charging port, the bZ can now access Tesla’s Supercharger network.
Toyota has brought the facelifted bZ4x in America, following its unveiling in Europe. While the EU-spec model retains its old name, the US-spec version is now simply called the Toyota bZ, benefiting from the same styling, tech, and mechanical upgrades

The bX4x already had the hammerhead face, but the bZ updates it with slimmer LED headlights and sharper bumper intakes. These are combined with new designs for the alloy wheels measuring 18 or 20 inches in diameter.

The rest of the exterior is largely carried over, but the fenders are now available with a body-color finish, making a big difference in the overall design of the 184.6-inch (4,690 mm) long crossover. However, it is worth noting that the body-colored fenders can only be had with the Wind Chill Pearl, Heavy Metal, and Black exterior shades.
Inside, the dashboard has been updated with a larger 14-inch infotainment touchscreen fitted as standard, dual wireless chargers, and customizable 64-color ambient lighting. Toyota has also added paddle shifters behind the steering wheel for adjusting the level of regenerative braking.
More Power And Range
Unlike conventional facelifts, the exterior and interior upgrades are mild compared to what hides under the skin. The e-TNGA architecture is carried over, but Toyota engineers have upgraded the powertrain and battery options.
The dual electric motors in the AWD version generate a combined 338 hp (252 kW / 343 PS), while the single motor in the FWD version is good for 218 hp (163 kW / 221 PS). For comparison, the outgoing EV produced 215 hp (160 kW / 218 PS) and 198 hp (148 kW / 201 PS) respectively. As with its predecessor, the AWD-capable Toyota bZ is equipped with the X-Mode function for improved grip on slippery terrains.
More importantly, the Toyota bZ brings a 25% increase in the driving range over the bZ4x, with an estimate of up to 314 miles (505 km) between charges. This was made possible thanks to a larger 74.7 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, that can be combined with FWD and AWD powertrains. There will also be a base FWD model with a smaller 57.7 kWh battery pack, offering 236 miles (380 km) of range.

As with the recently updated Subaru Solterra twin, the 2026 Toyota bZ is compatible with the North American Charging System (NACS), providing access to the Tesla Supercharger network. According to Toyota, the battery can charge from 10% to 80% in 30 minutes when connected to a fast DC charger, and has a new battery preconditioning function.
Availability
The 2026 Toyota bZ will reach US dealers in the second half of the year. The lineup includes the XLE and Limited trims in FWD and AWD configurations with two battery options. Pricing will be announced closer to the release date.
The Toyota bZ remains the automaker’s only EV offering in North America, among numerous gasoline, hybrid and PHEV models. However, this is about to change, as Toyota will soon unveil its own version of the Subaru Trailseeker.
