In the heart of Beirut, where echoes of war once mingled with the laughter of children in narrow alleyways, a boy was born into a world torn by conflict, but rich with unshakable dreams. That boy was Fouad Shamas, born on July 15, in the midst of Lebanon’s civil war. His earliest memories were shaped not by toys or television, but by the raw lessons of survival—resilience, endurance, and the quiet strength that blooms in hardship. Even as the world around him trembled, Fouad held onto a sense of purpose. His mind gravitated toward order and logic, and he found solace in numbers. Mathematics became more than a subject in school; it was a language of certainty in an uncertain world. It guided him through those difficult years and led him far from home—to Germany, where he enrolled at the prestigious University of Stuttgart. There, in 1993, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, a testament to years of discipline and a burning desire to grow beyond circumstance. But while equations filled his notebooks, something deeper stirred within him. Beyond the formulas and theorems, Fouad heard another calling—subtle at first, but growing louder with every passing day. It was the call of the voice. Not just his own, but the voices of characters, stories, and emotions that longed to be brought to life. That calling wasn’t entirely new. Back in 1987, long before his graduation, Fouad had already stepped behind the microphone. He began his professional journey with Monte Carlo Radio (Monté FM) and Sky Radio, where his voice first reached the airwaves. It was here that he first honed his vocal craft, exploring the intricate world of delivery, tone, and expression. The experience awakened a passion that would eventually eclipse everything else. When he returned to Lebanon after his studies, Fouad didn’t return to a life of numbers—he returned to a life of stories. He immersed himself in the world of dubbing, finding joy in breathing life into characters across languages and cultures. It was here that his talent blossomed into something extraordinary.

For more than three decades, Fouad Shamas became the unseen star of countless childhoods and homes. His voice was Donatello, the brainy turtle in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He gave life to Ken in the Barbie movies, narrated the dreams of Captain Tsubasa, and transformed into Richard—the hilarious and lovable father in The Amazing World of Gumball. His narration shaped the tone of powerful documentaries across major platforms including Al Jazeera Documentary Channel, National Geographic, and Discovery Channel.

His voice was everywhere—and yet, it never shouted for attention. It simply connected, comforted, and captivated. But the journey wasn’t always glamorous. In the early days, opportunities were few, the industry was tight-knit, and the odds were stacked high. Fouad often had to carve his own path through determination alone. It wasn’t talent that got him through those doors—it was his perseverance, humility, and his belief that every role, no matter how small, was a stepping stone toward something greater.

In time, he realized that his gift wasn’t just meant to entertain—it was meant to educate, to mentor, to inspire. Fouad became more than a voice actor; he became a teacher, a guide, a force for empowerment. For the past 35 years, he has dedicated himself to training others—broadcasters, TV and radio presenters, aspiring voice actors—across Lebanon and far beyond. Through in-person workshops and online platforms, and in collaboration with global organizations like Mind Shift, he has helped hundreds find their own voices. His mission has always been clear: not just to teach technique, but to ignite passion.

And that passion has never waned.

Fouad sees his career not as a list of characters or credits, but as a journey of evolution. Each phase—student, artist, mentor—has added a new layer of depth to his story. A story that proves you don’t have to be born into privilege to leave a mark. That you can start from a place of conflict and still create peace. That your beginnings do not define your destination. If he could speak to his younger self, standing in the war-touched alleys of Beirut, Fouad would offer this heartfelt truth: “Don’t fear failure, and don’t rush success. Let the journey unfold. Every setback is shaping your resilience. Every challenge is building the path to the person you’re meant to become.”

And to the dreamers of this generation—the young creators, thinkers, and storytellers—he offers a message forged in the fire of experience: “Inspiration doesn’t come from quick wins. It rises from patience, passion, and persistence. Keep going, even when the world doesn’t see you yet. Trust your inner voice. Let it lead you to places no map could ever show.”

Because Fouad Shamas didn’t just find his voice.

He used it to awaken others—and in doing so, reminded the world that even in its quietest corners, greatness can grow.
