Only Seven Of These V12 Lambos Came To The US

  • Lamborghini is thought to have built 31 examples of the LP650-4 Roadster.
  • All cars are painted in Grigio Telesto with bright orange accents inside and out.
  • This LP650-4 has been kept in a collection since new and driven just 2,000 miles.

Even in the crowded world of limited-run supercars, there’s always something rarer lurking behind the velvet ropes. While the SV version of the Lamborghini Murcielago usually gets all the attention as the rarest variant, it turns out that title actually belongs to something even more elusive.

There’s an even rarer version dubbed the Murcielago LP650-4 Roadster, and one of the rare examples in the United States has just appeared for sale. It’s attracting plenty of interest and seems set to sell for a serious price.

Lamborghini launched the LP650-4 Roadster version of the Murcielago back in 2009. As the name suggests, it has 10 hp more than the regular LP640, pumping out 650 hp and 487 lb-ft (660 Nm) from the 6.5-liter naturally-aspirated V12. However, it’s not the extra power that made the supercar stand out, but rather the unique grey and orange paint scheme.

A Color Scheme That Won’t Go Quietly

Most of the LP650-4’s bodywork is painted in Grigio Telesto, but it also features bright orange accents on the front bumper, side skirts, doors, brake calipers, side air intakes, and rear bumper. The cabin also includes orange contrast stitching and piping, as well as orange paddle shifters.

Lamborghini originally planned to build 50 examples of the LP650-4 Roadster, but according to Ed Bolian, just 31 ended up being produced. This supercar is number 9 and is thought to be one of just seven built for the US market. According to the seller, this car was purchased new by a retired pharmacist and kept in a climate-controlled garage until the selling dealer acquired it earlier this year. It has been driven just 2,000 miles (~3,200 km) and is likely the most pristine example in existence.

Perhaps the only thing that could make this car more desirable would be a six-speed gated manual shifter, but unfortunately, the LP650-4 was only ever offered with Lamborghini’s six-speed e-gear automated manual, controlled by those orange paddles.

At the time of writing, bidding on the car had already hit $402,000 with three days to go. If you’re feeling adventurous, and financially prepared, you can check out the listing over here.
