- Porsche has just unveiled its third entry in the Heritage Design line of the 911, the Spirit 70.
- Taking inspiration from the 1970s, it sports lots of retro styling cues both inside and out.
- The 532 hp limited edition will launch in summer, but its price is subject to Trump’s tariffs.
After unveiling the 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition and the highly sought after 911 Sport Classic, Porsche is back at it with the latest addition to its Heritage Design line: the 911 Spirit 70. As the name suggests, this model is a throwback to the brand’s styling cues from the 1970s. Only 1,500 units will be produced, and Porsche is quick to call it a “callback to the disco era.”

The 911 Spirit 70 is based on the rear-wheel drive GTS Cabriolet. As such, it sports a 3.6-liter flat-six, an electric motor, an eTurbo, and a high-voltage system for a combined output of 532 hp and 449 lb-ft of torque. It also comes as standard with 20-inch front and 21-inch rear Sport Classic center locking alloys in a gold-grey color that Porsche calls Bronzite.
A Nod to the Past
The design doesn’t hold back on retro flair. The bodywork is finished in a unique Olive Neo green, while details like a black windshield frame, a soft top, and three retro stripes on the hood complete the look. The “911” lettering on the hood is elongated, just like back in the day, adding an extra dose of nostalgia
On the sides, there are graphics with Porsche lettering and a satin black Lollipop with an individual start number that references the automaker’s rich motorsport heritage, though these decals can be deleted if a customer so wishes.
To replicate the old-school look, Porsche created a special hood crest nearly identical to the one used in 1963. And if you somehow missed all those details, the gold-plated “Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur” badges on the front fenders, the “Porsche Heritage” badge on the engine grille, along with the gold Porsche lettering and designation at the rear might get your attention.
A Vintage Interior That Hits All the Right Notes

The interior of the new 911 special edition also hearkens back to the ’70s, with the seat centers and other accents finished in black and Olive Neo Pasha with a pattern that resembles a checkered flag. The material used to upholster the seats is a combination of textile and flock yarn, while the decorative inlays on the seat backrests and the dashboard are available in Pasha as a no-cost option.
Another example of Porsche‘s attention to detail is the instrument cluster, whose 12.65-inch all-digital display features white pointers and scale lines in an analog format and green digits, another nod to classic 911s of the past. The Sport Chrono stopwatch at the dashboard also has vintage-looking green digits and white pointers, and buyers of the 911 Spirit 70 can order a new Porsche Design chronograph to go along with their ride.

“The Heritage Design models occupy a special position within our product strategy from a design perspective,” Michael Mauer, Vice President Style Porsche, said. “The limited-edition sports cars visualize what makes the Porsche brand so special. Every design of our vehicles ties in with our history – and these vehicles go one step further.”

A Limited Edition with a Price Tag to Match
Deliveries of the 911 Spirit 70 in the US are scheduled to commence in late summer. The limited edition will carry a $240,000 price tag, excluding a $2,500 processing, handling and delivery fee, as well as taxes, title registration and dealer charges. Since all 911s are made in Germany, Porsche notes that this price does not includes “any potential tariffs”, referencing not the ’70s, but 2025 and President Trump‘s new policy that intends to greatly diminish imports by imposing stiff taxes.
