Mercedes-Benz shows off its latest innovation in its new entry-level model.
With rich history and a diverse lineup, Mercedes-Benz has representation in a wide range of categories in the automotive industry, from ultra-rare performance machines like the new Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed barchetta that kicked off its highly-anticipated Mythos series, to ultra-luxury rolling oases like the Mercedes-Maybach S 680. However, its entry-level four-door coupe, the CLA, has become the vessel for Mercedes-Benz’s latest innovations.
Launched with two all-electric powertrains: The CLA 250 with EQ Technology and the CLA 350 with EQ Technology, the new Mercedes-Benz CLA will also feature hybrid powertrains, a pattern that future Mercedes-Benz models will follow in the future. The CLA is importantly the first car to utilize the new MB.OS, or Mercedes-Benz Operating System, which uses AI enhancement to equip every vehicle with a supercomputer, connected to the Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Cloud for over-the-air updates.
The OS also makes way for a fourth-generation MBUX, which integrates AI from Microsoft and Google for the highest degree of personalization and efficiency yet. The Google Maps-powered navigation and the MB.DRIVE driver assistance systems promises to make every journey easier than ever before. The two electric powertrains offer 268 and 349 horsepower, with the CLA 250 offering a range of up to 492 miles.
Its updated design is inspired by concepts like the Vision EQXX and the vision AMG, with a new shark nose design sporting a front light bar, and an evolution of the fastback coupe silhouette that earned the CLA its icon status as Mercedes-Benz’s entry-level offering. Optionally available with features like the MBUX Superscreen, as well as with the option of leather and sustainable materials in the interior, the new CLA offers Mercedes-Benz’s signature luxury, as well as the very best of its technological capabilities, in a small package.
