This vehicle is pretty much as it came from the factory. Here are the specifics:
-Electric Silver with Nordkap interior
-2.5 L 5-cylinder turbocharged engine rated at 300 hp, 295 lb/ft torque.
-6 speed Geartronic automatic transmission
-18” Pegasus wheels with BF Goodrich G-Force Comp-2 A/S+ 235/40ZR18 95W XL tires (installed April, 2024)
-All-wheel drive
The “R” model included a number of items not found on other S60 models:
-High pressure turbo and intercooler
-Brembo brakes
-Recaro front seats
-All leather interior
-HU-850 audio system
-Magnetological dampers with three settings (comfort, sport, and advanced)
Sport and Advanced settings employ separate ECU programming for throttle response, gear shifts, brake response and steering response in addition to firmness of ride. (These functions continue to work as expected).
New Volvo-branded battery installed 2024 (purchased from Volvo, installed by me).
All service has been performed by Volvo. In this case, Volvo of Lisle, Lisle, IL. Service records will accompany the vehicle, if desired.
Timing belt was changed based on age, rather than mileage. All recommended maintenance has been completed according to factory-recommended timing.
This vehicle was part of an air bag recall. The air bag was replaced, however the cover (center of the steering wheel) was not available with “R” badging, so they installed a normal Volvo cover. I was more concerned about having an air bag that wouldn’t blow up, so I didn’t complain.
Brakes are new as of March, 2025. Brembo parts were used.
Issues with this vehicle:
The sunroof is inoperable. Volvo reports that the “entire tub” needs replacement.
There is a dimple on the left front fender.
There is a scratch on the left rear fender. You have to really look to see it.
There are two scratches on the rear bumper.
There are signs of “droopy lip”, a condition that occurs when one catches the bottom of the front bumper on a parking lot wheel stop. The repair resulted in a crack on the lower part of the front bumper.
Sometimes, not always, the front end will seem to “groan” when turned to the steering lock. This was brought up with Volvo during the last service visit and the advisor dismissed the concern.
The vehicle was in two accidents, both professionally repaired. The first was a low-speed collision between the front of the car with the rear of another car. The second, also low-speed, involved a Honda sliding through an icy intersection into the right front quarter of the Volvo. There are no residual effects of these accidents on the vehicle’s performance.
There is a loose wire (I believe) in the passenger side speakers. The result is that volume levels emanating from the passenger footwell may change. The radio works fine; the CD player ejects media rather than play it. I don’t use it much, so I have not investigated the issue.
The rearview mirror glass should be replaced. (editorial comment- I depend more on my side mirrors, which are fine, so I never replaced the interior mirror)
Volvo recommends replacing the thermostat housing. Currently, there are no issues with engine temperature or overheating.
Volvo recommends a new lower engine mount. Currently, there are no issues with vibration or performance.
The passenger side headlight tends to vibrate. Volvo recommended leaving it alone.
A car cover (Henry’s Car Covers) will accompany the vehicle.
