My Car is RHD and the parts numbers I mentioned in my original post are all correct parts for RHD cars as I checked them in VIDA.
These are FORD parts, and I got the Ford part numbers from what was exactly written on the original hoses on my car. I got the hoses from FORD as they were 1/2 the cost from what Volvo wanted. Volvo wanted over $400, & Ford only want $190 for all 4 Heater Hoses.
Getting all four heater hoses from Volvo would have cost $210 more for the exact same part in a Volvo bag v Ford bag.
Ford used these heater hoses (same part numbers) on many other car models, like for example – most Focus Mk2 Variants
with the Ford 2 Litre 4 cylinder or the Volvo 5 cylinder and other cars like Fiesta, Transit Van and Kuga Etc. This makes sense why Ford Parts in General are much cheaper. (Not always though as seen in one of my examples below) as they have a many more cars on the road and hence parts available in their inventory to clear.
I’m actually in the process of replacing all the coolant hoses, Tank and Thermostat in this car. But I’m still in the initial stages of buying all the parts first.
What’s interesting is the difference between some prices between Ford and Volvo. Here in Australia & the ROW we had the MK2 Focus. Ford also used the Volvo 5 cylinder in the Focus XR5/ST, Mondeo and Kuga/Escape here as well.
In the USA I believe the Focus Mk2 was not available leaving primarily Volvo as the only option for P1 OEM parts.
For example, here are some of the differences in the prices of a few parts that I have already purchased.
All prices are in Australian Dollars
Radiator Cap Volvo 30680002 = $60 Ford 3M5H8100AP = $10 (Volvo 500 % more) Makes sense as it’s a Ford specific part. eBay Ford Cap
Expansion Tank Volvo 30776151 = $110 Ford 3M5H8K218DG = $60 (Volvo 80% more) Makes sense as it’s a Ford specific part.
Thermostat Housing Volvo 31319606 = $280 Ford = $190 (Volvo 50% more) Does not make any sense in this case as it’s a Volvo specific part and Ford is Cheaper ?????
Engine Mount RH Volvo = $180 Ford = $340 (Ford $160 more) Makes sense as it’s a Volvo specific part.
Expansion Tank Bleeder Hose to Engine Volvo 30776162 = $52 Ford = $180 ( Ford $128 more) Makes sense as it’s a Volvo specific part
Upper Rad (Octopus) Hose 30723082 was cheap at Volvo $90. This hose was a Gates hose in a Volvo bag, but Gates wanted $140. So, I kept the Volvo one
Lower Rad Hose 30681899 Got one from Volvo (which was a Gates hose in a Volvo packet) @ $80, which I returned back to Volvo and then went out and bought the exact same hose from Gates for half the cost @ $40.
Of Course, I get most of my parts from the OEM supplier like Bosch, Denso, Lemforder, TRW, Sachs, Mahle etc, as they are always cheaper that the Dealer. But sometimes you have no choice but using the dealer, for parts that you can’t find or source.
FCP Euro is not an Option here as the shipping cost to Australia is ridiculously expensive & they have no cheap slow shipping option. I have used them before but the cost for shipping makes it more expensive in most cases than buying from the Volvo or Ford Dealer.
Rock Auto shipping is pretty good as they are only about 33% the cost of shipping compared to FCP.
