This car is fully loaded with navigation, sport package, CD changer (plus aftermarket Grom aux-in jack), has two keys, two sets of factory 17-inch wheels (one with Goodyear all-seasons, the other with Nokian winter tires). I have all records organized in a binder from my five years with the car, plus the previous owners several years with it. Timing belt and tensioner were done in 2017 at 117k before I bought the car (due again in June 2027).
In my ownership, the car has had new brakes all around, parking brake cables, radiator fan/module, front control arms and struts, air conditioning compressor, AGM size H8 Interstate battery, PCV system, brake fluid flush, thermostat, coolant flush, Xemodex electronic throttle module, all coil packs replaced with OEM Bosch, OEM Volvo spark plugs, MAF, and likely a few more things I’m forgetting.
The a/c blows cold, car tracks and brakes straight and true, paint is shiny with few superficial scratches and a door ding from an inconsiderate person in a parking lot (good candidate for paintless dent removal). All electric seat functions work besides driver’s side heater. Sunroof works and doesn’t leak. No rust anywhere and no leaks, check out the undercarriage photos. Car gets washed monthly and waxed twice a year.
Things that don’t work include a slightly hazy auto-dimming rear view mirror (manual mirror included with sale), driver’s side door lock sometimes doesn’t work with the electric fob though all others do, CEL for evaporative system J-hose (smoke test confirmed. I have an OEM Volvo hose ready to go in, but this doesn’t affect drivability so I’ve ignored it), alarm has been deactivated, passenger side mirror was replaced but auto-dips on startup, so I’ve detached the electric power to it. I think it may need to be programmed to the car). Clearcoat is failing on both mirrors, but all other paint is in exceptional condition for the age. A seam has come loose on the outer top bolster of the driver’s seat, needs restitching.
Car has had regular oil changes within 3k-5k miles without fail in my ownership, using Mahle OEM filters and Mobil 1 synthetic oil. It has been utterly reliable for my wife and I as a second daily driver and we’ve put roughly 5k trouble-free miles on it per year over the last five years (about 28k miles total). At the time we bought it, we only had two-door sports cars (Miata, Alfa Romeo, Porsche Cayman) so this was our practical, all-weather car following a move from Southern California to Washington state. After buying a new Mazda CX-5 last July, it’s only had 1,500 miles put on it, though I still drive it once a week to keep fluids moving and battery charged. Time to move it along to a fellow Volvo enthusiast who will get more use from it.
My chief concern is that this car goes to a good home. My wife and I are very attached to it and sad to see it go, but we currently have five cars for the two of us and that is just too many. I am also selling our 1997 Mercedes SL500 w/ AMG sport package if anyone here has interest in those.
I am asking $2,850 but happy to negotiate with the right buyer who will take good care of our “Moose” for years to come.
