CaR Shake Between 30-40 MPH | SwedeSpeed

Posted on March 8, 2025 By rehan.rafique No Comments on CaR Shake Between 30-40 MPH | SwedeSpeed

Hello, I’ve been chasing vibration/shake a problem. It is consistent majority of the time (less noticeable when cold) between 30-42 mph and is felt at 75 and above, it also gets worse with speed in these ranges, vibration speed is consistent with moving speed. It does not get worse or better when; accelerating, decelerating, turning left or right, braking, and it happens on or off throttle. When it reaches 42 mph the vibration stops almost immediately. Between 42- 75 it is basically unnoticeable aside from road noise, and it is not present at all before 30mph.

The reason this is happening is because in September of 2024 I hit what looked like a basketball or volleyball sized rock just above 30 MPH that someone threw into the road. It impacted directly below the front bushing of the front right control arm, and left a small, golfball sized dent on the back right corner of the subframe. I have yet to find any damage on the rear suspension.

It’s mostly felt on the passenger side, but it shakes the steering wheel and the shift knob.

OK, hopefully that helps give an idea of what im working with. Here’s what I’ve checked/ what I know on the front

  • Control arm including bushings and bolts
  • shocks, springs
  • sway bar, end links, tie rods
  • Front Right wheel bearing, feels consistent with rest when shaken vertically and horizontally
  • replaced Front Right CV Axle, still occurred
  • wheel alignment, I asked if they found anything unusual and they said no. still consistent but with good alignment

ALL suspension was replaced weeks prior with IPD Lowering springs, ipd sway bars, ipd front control arms, ipd subframe inserts w new bushings, and all other components replaced with OEM Equivalent from IPD, I cannot see any bends or impacts in the suspension

I don’t recall the rock hitting the rear so I havent looked back there much aside from the wheel shake test. I did find that my rear cv axle had around one inch of forward and back play in the splines, but I was told that that’s mostly normal and wouldn’t cause a shake like this.

I am stumped at this point. Not much more I can think of or know of for that matter would isolate the problem. Maybe its a drive shaft? But I read that accelerating would usually make it worse, which is not my case. It can’t be the wheels because I’ve had them checked and balanced.

Maybe its an angle gear? That’s my best guess, any insight would help at this point, and thank you for reading this far
