Maserati has secured a double victory with the GranTurismo Trofeo and GranTurismo Folgore earning Car and Driver’s 2025 Editors’ Choice Awards. These accolades highlight Maserati’s excellence in both luxury sports cars and electric performance, solidifying its place among the industry’s elite.
A Dual Triumph in Luxury and Innovation

Car and Driver’s Editors’ Choice Awards are a hallmark of automotive excellence. This year, nearly 500 vehicles across 45 segments were thoroughly tested. The evaluation process included on-road and on-track performance, instrumented testing, value assessment, and overall driving enjoyment.
The GranTurismo Trofeo won in the Luxury Sports Car category, while the GranTurismo Folgore triumphed in the Electric Luxury Sports Car segment. This dual recognition underscores Maserati’s ability to blend timeless design with cutting-edge technology.
The GranTurismo Trofeo: Performance Meets Elegance

Crafted at the Maserati Innovation Lab in Modena, the GranTurismo Trofeo not only embodies Italian luxury and performance but also showcases cutting-edge engineering. Moreover, powered by a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 Nettuno engine, it features pre-chamber combustion technology inspired by Formula One, further enhancing its efficiency and power. The Trofeo offers a thrilling driving experience without compromising comfort, making it ideal for both spirited drives and long-distance touring.
The GranTurismo Folgore: Electrifying the Future

The GranTurismo Folgore represents Maserati’s bold leap into the electric era. Equipped with three 300-kW permanent magnet motors, it delivers a remarkable 760 horsepower to all four wheels. Its 800-volt architecture, influenced by Formula E, allows for rapid charging and exceptional efficiency.
What sets the Folgore apart is its innovative “t-bone” battery layout, providing a low centre of gravity without altering the car’s iconic design. This ensures that drivers enjoy the same dynamic handling and elegant aesthetics as the Trofeo.
A Legacy of Excellence

Maserati’s GranTurismo line traces its roots back over 75 years to the original A6 1500 grand tourer. The 2025 models pay homage to this rich heritage while embracing modern innovations. Andrea Soriani, General Manager of Maserati North America, stated, “The modern GranTurismo encapsulates Maserati’s core elements: elegant design, incredible performance, and unwavering dedication to Italian excellence.”
