When Liggett got his new project El Camino, to use as a winter vehicle while working on his old beater truck, he seemed to think he’d be able to leave it alone. We knew better. He did all the normal Liggett stuff to it to make sure it ran right, stopped and steered, and would be reliable. And then he started in on a little cleanup. Then it was wheels and tires…

Now there are some new parts coming, so it warranted a road trip in the El Camino to go pick up its own new parts.

Video Description:

Our 1976 Chevy El Camino gets its first real road test. Our once abandoned project that was a garage derelict has been our new daily driver, but we have yet to take it on any kind of road trip. Isn’t that the real test of of a 50 year old vehicle being driven daily? Since we were heading 2 hours south of Rebeldryver’s home base to see a friend and pick up some new parts we decided that the El Camino needed to stretch its legs.

Our friend gave us a surprise tour of his farm where he had a ton of cool old muscle cars stashed. A pair of 65 Impalas, a 67 Caprice complete with its 396 big block, Monte Carlos, Novas and more. We also found the most awesome abandoned dealership in the tiny town of Stockton, KS. It appears like people went home after working on some really badass hot rods and just never came back. It’s wild.

It was a great trip even though our El Camino had a couple of annoying things we would want to fix before we take it out again. Plus, see what we bought in order to change up the looks of that Elco.
