  • BMW is celebrating the life and career of Valentino Rossi with a special M4 CS
  • The 2025 BMW M4 CS Edition VR46 is limited to 92 units worldwide
  • Pricing in the U.S. starts at $156,175, including destination

BMW is honoring nine-time motorcycle world champion and current BMW Motorsport works driver Valentino Rossi with a special edition based on the 2025 BMW M4 CS.

Known as the M4 CS Edition VR46, the name references Rossi’s iconic racing number, as well as his 46th birthday this year. Just 92 examples are planned for worldwide sale.

Order books are already open, including in the U.S., where pricing starts at $156,175—up from the stock M4 CS’s starting price of $124,675. Both figures include a $1,175 destination charge.

Of the total 92 examples planned, production will be split evenly between models finished in Frozen Tanzanite Blue Metallic and Marina Bay Blue Metallic. The cars will also feature a hand-painted number 46 on the sides and a carbon fiber-reinforced plastic roof.

Rossi himself played a key role in designing the special edition. Beyond the striking paint finishes, the kidney grille surround and forged alloy wheel spokes are finished in São Paulo Yellow, mirroring Rossi’s traditional racing colors. Additional yellow accents appear on the brake calipers, carbon roof, and the “VR46” logo on the trunk lid.

Inside, M Carbon bucket seats feature black and Night Blue leather trim, combined with Alcantara accents finished in more São Paulo Yellow. The flat-bottom Alcantara-lined steering wheel also includes a yellow center marker and contrast stitching.

No changes have been made to the mechanical package of the M4 CS. Under the hood sits the familiar 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-6, producing 543 hp in this application. The engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic and all-wheel-drive system as standard, rocketing the car from 0-60 mph in 3.2 seconds. The top speed is 188 mph. Key CS modifications include bespoke engine mounts, a high-performance cooling system, and a titanium exhaust.

Rossi, who transitioned to car racing after his legendary motorcycle career ended in 2021, has been a BMW Motorsport works driver since 2023. He primarily competes behind the wheel of a BMW M4 GT3 for BMW M Team WRT in series like the GT World Challenge Europe and the FIA World Endurance Championship. He also finished second overall in the recent 2025 Bathurst 12 Hour, which served as the opening round of the 2025 Intercontinental GT Challenge.
