Good news for Corvette fans in the UK: the Z06 is now available to order through a trio of dealerships here, with right-hand drive, from £180k. In fact that counts as good news for anyone who loves great cars, really; the PH review of the 670hp, 5.5-litre Z06 (the most powerful nat-asp engine on sale today) praised the grip, sound and performance. And it’s a mid-engined V8 that revs beyond 8,000rpm. Imagine turning up to a track day of Porsches, McLarens and AMGs in this.
For the moment, there aren’t many details, but there is enough to be encouraged by. A press release from PSM&W Communications in Germany states that ‘the legendary Corvette Z06 is officially available in the UK, bringing its track-inspired performance to Britain.’ The chosen dealerships are Lumen Automotive in Shrewsbury plus Arnold Clark’s outlets in Glasgow and Altrincham. Decent coverage for just three sites, though suffice it to say those who want a RHD Z06 might have to put some effort in.

Lumen’s website suggests the price is from £179,791, though nothing further is available from them beyond an ‘Enquire Now’ form. Certainly that money would pitch the Corvette against cars like the AMG GT R Pro (launched just yesterday at £176,605) and new 911 GT3, which is £157,300 – although the Weissach package is another £20k. So the same sort of ballpark. While the press release mentions the same 8,600rpm redline as the USDM car, it suggests that UK Z06s will have 637bhp, or 645hp metric, or a little way off the 670hp it launched with. Which is almost certainly to do with emissions. Still plenty to be working with.
Other than that, little else has been shared; we don’t know if cars will come pre-specced, or if options will be available. There’s no word on when any right-hand drive cars might arrive, either, which of course has been a bugbear from the very beginning of the C8’s life. But all signs point to the Z06 coming here at some point in the not-too-distant future, and that sounds like great news. ‘Stay tuned – more exciting news is just around the bend’, concludes the press release. You just try and stop us.
