This three-owner 1988 Corvette convertible boasts of a rather handsome and rare color combination – Charcoal Metallic over Saddle leather interior.
Now this unusual-looking C4 is up for sale on Craigslist for $14,950 out of the Phoenix, Arizona area.
The two previous owners “fastidiously” maintained the car, storing it under a cover in their garages in Boise, Idaho but primarily in California where the current owner says he found it.
Only 1,046 Corvettes out of a total production of 22,789 were sprayed in Charcoal Metallic, which the seller describes as looking like metallic black, dark gray, and dark brown metallic depending on the lighting. “It’s a very cool color,” he says.
Coming with a clean Carfax, this vintage Corvette has been driven 53,750 miles.
Mechanically speaking, the air conditioning still blows cold with a fresh R12 recharge and has been purple dye tested to ensure the lack of leaks.
Meanwhile, the original Delco Bose sound system has been refurbished, with all four Bose amplifiers recently rebuilt by a Scottsdale company. As the seller notes, “the proprietary Bose speakers cannot be hooked up to any other radio, [so} this is nice to have all done and maintains the car’s originality. Sounds nice too!”
The black manual canvas top is described as being in “great” condition, and while the 17-inch BFGoodrich g-Force Comp-2 tires have just 1,400 miles on them, their date codes are from 2011, meaning that they need to be replaced for safety purposes. Apparently, the previous owner was older and just “liked having the car around” and didn’t drive it very much after installing the new tires some 14 years ago, according to the listing.
Included with the sale are two sets of keys, the original owner’s manual, and miscellaneous Corvette books and manuals, along with service records of the work done by the current owner.
If you want to get into the Corvette hobby, this might be an inexpensive way to stick your toe in the water, with an exotic-looking car to boot.
