A couple months ago I was driving home from work. The early winter sun was just right on my passenger side that I needed to use the passenger side visor. I pulled it down and rotated it towards the passenger side window. The visor got caught on the headliner. It wouldn’t rotate all the way due to misalignment.
I got home and noticed the direction of the small square tab was facing outward. The driver’s side was facing inward. Our 2023’s visors were both facing inward. This means the passenger side visor was reinstalled backwards, causing the rotation to be hindered.
I waved it off and thought “I’ll do this later next time I’m detailing it.”
Fast forward to today, and I removed the plastic cover that relieved the two 7 mm bolts. The cover was two pieces – so I assumed one came off forward and one came off backward. They both popped off easily. I removed the bolts holding the visor, rotated the mount with the tab inward, and reinstalled the bolts. The visor rotated normally with this change. Confirming it was reinstalled backwards after the dealer had the headliner down. I started reinstalling the cover. Upon second glance I realized the cover was broken. It wasn’t two pieces. See the photo:
Here’s the driver’s side for reference:
And with the zoom on the camera, I noticed the driver’s side visor wire was sticking out from the dealer’s reinstall. More evidence of half ass work.
Alright, I should have addressed this earlier as soon a so noticed it. I did not know the visor was reinstalled incorrectly until I needed it a couple months ago. The small cover is not a standalone part. It comes with the entire visor assembly. These leather visors are not cheap.
So what gives? Why is it that a customer needs to check a dealer’s work up close? Is it me? Am I the problem? Is the dealer going to assume that due to time and me removing the visor will assume all liability on me? I’ve never removed a visor on any car I’ve owned. I’ve already written off another dealer for reinstalling my bumper and fender flares incorrectly, before cracking my oil filter housing after they changed the oil without my consent.
Now I’m wondering what else I need to check. Hand grips, pillar trims, intellisafe housing, etc. It seems like a small deal to take it to the dealer. But even with an appointment weeks in advance, the dealer has notoriously forced me to wait several days, failed to communicate, and waited until rush hour to call me when it’s done after I get home from work. I have to adjust several days of my week to take the car to a dealer for any problem.
Venting, not necessarily looking for answers. But maybe others that have experienced things like this.
