Toyota Prado 250 Series gets tough Arctic Trucks treatment

Toyota Prado 250 Series gets tough Arctic Trucks treatment

Legendary extreme off-road custom company builds a rough and tumble version of the new-generation Prado, built with serious upgrades.

The 2025 Toyota LandCruiser Prado has been given a boost by the team at Arctic Trucks with the first upgrade package for the new generation off-roader.

Based in the United Kingdom (UK), Arctic Trucks has taken to the new generation Prado to create the AT37 package, consisting of both cosmetic and off-road capable modifications.

Pricing hasn’t been announced for the set-up, which is not sold in Australia, but has been launched in the UK and other countries.

It is the first package for the 2025 LandCruiser Prado, launched in Australia last year as the first all-new model in 15 years with a pre-order bank of 17,000 vehicles ahead of the first batches’ arrival in November 2024.

Arctic Trucks specialises in military and go-anywhere upgraded off-road machinery and – while offering a range of models across brands including its latest Land Rover Defender – is already familiar with building tough Toyotas.

The company is most famously known for building a wild Toyota HiLux for British television show Top Gear for its 2007 ‘Magnetic North Pole Exhibition’ in the Arctic.

The Prado AT37 package has been developed across Arctic Truck’s UK and Iceland development centres, who worked with Toyota South Africa in creating the package.

The extensive changes start with a strengthened frame and body work designed to tackle the rough stuff with even more capability than the already competent showroom version.

The aggressive stance comes thanks to a larger footprint, with a relocated rear axle sent rearwards for a longer wheelbase – the distance between the front and rear axles – combined with a wider track for greater overall stability.

To maximise the greater width and length, the AT37 has Arctic Trucks -developed two-way adjustable suspension – developed with Dakar Rally specialists R53 Suspension – which includes front coil-overs with longer travel as well as upgraded rear springs and dampers for a 40mm lift.

A set of satin black ‘Heritage’ 17 x 10-inch dual-valve forged alloy wheels is next, wrapped in meaty and namesake 37-inch BF Goodrich tyres, with All-Terrain T/A K03 in some markets and Mud-Terrain T/A KM3 tyre in others.

Arctic Trucks has also balanced the changes to the body and suspension with the Prado drivetrain for a low centre of gravity yet with sufficient ground clearance.

If that’s not enough, a 10-piece wide body package brings wheel-arch extensions with built-in tyre pressure gauges and inflation guide to use with a central inflation system.

New contoured mudguards have been reshaped by Arctic Trucks to flow seamlessly into the widened body work while adding more off-road protection, while aluminium sidesteps sit beneath the sills.

The cabin has been given an Arctic Trucks and Toyota speedometer, recalibrated tyre-pressure monitoring system and Toyota Safety Sense system, capped with unique gear selector, dash trims and premium all-terrain mats and sill plates.
