The McLaren 750S, introduced for the 2023 model year as the successor to the 720S, builds on the foundation of its predecessor with the same carbon-fiber Monocage II monocoque and extruded aluminum subframe. However, it features updated styling, including revised front and rear ends, a central-exit exhaust, and a rear wing that is 20% larger than the 720S’s.
Powered by the familiar 4.0L twin-turbocharged V8, the 750S now produces 750 PS (740 bhp), up from the 720 PS (710 bhp) of the 720S, with torque increasing to 590 lb-ft (from 568 lb-ft). These improvements contribute to a slightly more thrilling exhaust note thanks to the redesigned, lighter center-exit exhaust.
Although the 750S is expected to be marginally quicker than its predecessor—capable of 0-60 mph in just 2.8 seconds—McLaren emphasizes that revisions to the powertrain, such as a shorter final-drive ratio, 765LT pistons, and improved 7-speed DCT transmission programming, enhance the driving experience.
The 750S is also lighter, with both coupe and Spyder variants shedding 30 kg each. This is largely due to increased use of carbon fiber, including standard carbon bucket seats, which alone reduce weight by 17.5 kg. The coupe weighs in at just 1,389 kg, while the Spyder is slightly heavier at 1,438 kg due to its additional rollover protection and roof mechanism. Both versions are otherwise identical, offering exceptional power-to-weight ratios.
